DR kOSAR SIDDIQI ANAESTHETIST ALIGARH WRITE THE FOLLOWING WITH COMMENTS FROM DR MOHSIN RAZA
[16/01, 12:30] drmohsinraza1: Today, medicine disarmed me....
and reminded me that behind every case sheet lies a life—and sometimes, a burden far heavier than disease.
Today, I anaesthetized a 24-year-old, unmarried woman with breast cancer.
I have anaesthetized hundreds of patients for breast surgeries over nearly 30 years as a freelance anesthesiologist.
I have walked into operating theatres focused, steady—no matter how difficult the case.
But today was different.
Her mother had passed away just twelve days ago—from cancer.
She has four younger sisters.
She is the sole breadwinner of her family.
Standing in the OT, moments before putting her to sleep for surgery, I lost my composure.
For the first time in my professional life, I cried in the operating theatre.
We often discuss breast cancer in terms of numbers—incidence, prevalence, survival rates. Yet today, those numbers dissolved into a single, fragile human story.
What the data tells us :
Over the last one to two decades:
Breast cancer incidence has been rising among younger women, including those in their 20s and 30s.
While overall prevalence remains higher with advancing age, the rate of increase is steeper in younger females.
The reassuring truth is that mortality in early-detected breast cancer has decreased significantly, owing to improved awareness, earlier diagnosis, and advances in treatment.
When detected early, survival outcomes today are far better than they were a generation ago, even in young women.
What the data cannot capture :-
The quiet terror behind a brave face.
The burden of responsibility far beyond one’s years.
The trauma of fighting cancer while still grieving.
Breast cancer is no longer confined to a particular age group.
It is affecting women earlier, often at the very point when life is just beginning to demand everything of them.
Awareness must lead to vigilance.
Breast symptoms in young women should never be dismissed—by patients or by clinicians.
Early evaluation and timely treatment save lives.
Today reminded me that behind every case sheet lies a life, and behind every professional mask is a human being.
And sometimes—even in an operating theatre—humanity overwhelms training.

[16/01, 12:30] drmohsinraza1: Dear friends
After my compliments
This article is written by my anaesthist colleague dr Kosar Siddiqi.i operated a 24 years age unmarried girl yesterday with her as Anesthetist.
During last year I saw 5 patients aged from 16..19..22 23. Yesterday 24.
I feel so sad about it that the women and girls are neglecting .There is a myth that fine needle aspiration increases the tumour .It doesn't .
It gives early diagnosis .
My appeal to women and every one Is that if you have a lump in breast come to a competent surgeon.
We have so far done 126 .workshops under society for breast cancer awareness.
