Rag Dreams' Weavers Association

Rag Dreams' Weavers Association In pursuance of this, we utilize the child-rights approach as detailed under the UN General Comment No.21.

A youth-based non-profit envisions creating an empathetic society for street-connected children by fostering passionate youth who are curious to build upon an understanding of children that are linked to the street- situations. Rag Dreams’ Weavers Association (RDWA) is a youth-based non-profit that envisions creating an empathetic society (as opposed to a sympathetic one) for street-connected chil

dren by fostering passionate youth who are curious to build upon an understanding of children that are linked to the street- situations. We are a global network of Consortium for Street Children, UK. In collaboration with Peace First and North-Central Railways India, we run Volunteer and Learning Mentorship Programs to systematically connect and expose youth to the realities of street-connected. The program focuses on developing 21st-century skills and finding sustainable interventions on the ground. RDWA started in 2017 as an informal initiative by childhood friends disturbed by people’s outlook in the neighborhood for street-connected children. RDWA recognizes that youth holds the ultimate power to bring change in the society, thus creating a pool of youth change-makers who understand the mechanisms of self-change and are committed to creating an empathetic society for children.

Creating a space for children begins with questioning everything—
and building safer, more thoughtful responses.
On the ground, one of the most pressing realities we encounter is children drawn into substance abuse.
And the question that stays with us is:
what did we miss, what did we overlook, that led here?

Privilege is a comfort we often forget to name.
It lives in clean water, a safe home, a full plate, a school to go to—things so basic, yet so far for many.

Across our cities, thousands of children are still navigating lives where these remain daily struggles. Numbers may be debatable, but the truth is not—every single child matters.

Sometimes, comparison makes us feel better about where we stand. But what if it also made us more aware? More responsible, more human.

Privilege isn’t just something to feel grateful for.
It’s something to use—with intention, with empathy, with action.

Meeting so many people connected to on-ground work and exploring collaborations at Volfest, Delhi, was a meaningful experience for us. It helped us build a more conscious vocabulary to express our intentions, our work on the ground, and what we hope to do moving forward.

Tomorrow is

Across the world, children living in street situations continue to be criminalised, pushed aside, and denied the rights that belong to them.

At Rag Dream Weaver Association (RDWA), we stand with street-connected children in everyday action. Through learning spaces, art, and consistent presence, we work towards creating environments where children feel seen, safe, and valued. Because no child’s circumstance should decide their dignity.

On this International Day for Street Children, we stand in solidarity, and we continue the work.

Rehman’s Journey

Rehman’s connection with the Rag Dreams’ Weaver Association (RDWA) began in an unexpected way — near a railway track.
As a teenager, he noticed a group of children gathered there. With them was a man speaking gently and attentively, listening to their stories and encouraging them. Curious, Rehman approached him and asked why he was spending time with the children.
The man was Sagar from RDWA. His response was simple:
“Because every child deserves to know they matter.”

That moment stayed with Rehman.
At 17 years old, he joined RDWA — not as a volunteer, but as a young person seeking direction and opportunity. Over time, with mentorship, learning, and community support, he began to shape his own path.

Today, Rehman is part of the RDWA team, contributing to the same work that once supported him. He is also a fellow of the Rail Vidya Fellowship and, as a BOE facilitator with Darash Ahava, he engages with children growing up in similar circumstances-helping create spaces where they can learn, grow, and imagine different futures.

We are deeply honoured to be recognised by the Rotary Club of Delhi Premier with the DSA Award (Distinguished Service Award) for our work at Rag Dreams Weavers Association.

This recognition goes beyond us—it represents the journeys of hundreds of street-connected children, and the unwavering belief of our mentors, volunteers, and communities who make this work possible every day.

Over the years, we have been creating safe, child-centric spaces where learning meets dignity, where children feel seen, heard, and empowered to grow beyond their circumstances.

We are truly grateful for this recognition, which not only validates our on-ground efforts but also strengthens our commitment to continue building a more inclusive and compassionate world for every child. 🌿✨

Every woman deserves a safe place to learn.

Yet across the world, many dream wherever they can — under trees, on sidewalks, beside busy roads — determined to keep learning despite the barriers around them.
This Women’s Day, we celebrate the courage and determination of every woman who continue to pursue her dreams, even in the most challenging circumstances.

Celebrating a meaningful collaboration and a shared commitment to reimagining community.

The Bharat RailVidya Fellowship 2026 brings together artists, designers, educators, architects, and social practitioners to create safe, art-led spaces where children feel seen, heard, and empowered.

Working on-ground across Aligarh, Prayagraj, Kanpur, and Delhi—expanding into newer geographies and deeper community networks—our fellows engage directly with young minds, nurturing curiosity, confidence, and connection beyond the boundaries of traditional systems.
Here’s to building communities of care, imagination, and possibility. 🌻
