The Aligarh Dialogue, a forum dedicated to critical discussions on socio-political issues, organized a talk today on “Why AMU Students’ Union Matters?”. Mateen Ashraf, former Cabinet Member of AMUSU and outgoing President of the MANUU Students’ Union addressed and interacted with the students.

The discussion aimed to highlight AMU’s rich tradition of debate and dialogue. But we faced unnecessary administrative interference, causing an unfair delay in the program. Such disruptions undermine the spirit of free speech, challenge academic freedom, and raise concerns about the shrinking space for student activism in Muslim university campus. Preserving free expression and restoring students’ union is crucial to upholding AMU’s intellectual and historical legacy.

Just as we extended support to Muzaffarnagar and Kashmir riot victims, it is now time to stand with Palestine. The ongoing struggle for freedom and justice demands our collective action. Join the calling for the redirection of Sir Sayyid Day funds to support the Palestinian people. Together, let us reaffirm our commitment to justice, equality, and humanity.
