Everybody had a day off today to celebrate a new Maa Durga statue being brought to the village. Spirits were high, the weather was perfect, and we celebrated with a special meal of dal, puris and delicious sweets.

It's hot time in Pushkar (45+ degrees) so we've had to move our class time to the early evening. Our classroom is so hot in the daytime it's impossible for the children to study, so classes are now running from 4-6 when the sun calms down a bit.
We are the only project running in the gypsy colony at the moment, so there are lots of children wanting to join the project, but with only one teacher and limited funds we can only take 25 students so unfortunately we can't take them all. We hope to grow in the next years so we can take another teacher and increase our capacity. We believe that every child should have access to education, and we don't like turning anybody away.

We want to say a big thank you to Carole and the lovely people at Adventure Aid for kindly sponsoring our project and allowing us to continue working with the children, providing education to 25 children in the Kalbeliya gypsy colony in Pushkar.
Adventure Aid is an NGO running tours to different projects all over the world.
We are hoping to organise a tour to Pushkar later in the year, if you would like to join and spend time with our project you can find out more here:

CAN YOU HELP?
We are out of funds again. It costs £250 a month to run the school, which pays for food, staff salaries, water, books and pens.
25 children rely on Our Little Project for a safe space and an education. Please, if you can, help us to help them with a monthly donation of whatever you can afford. A small amount goes a long way out here and we can really make a difference to future generations by getting them out of a life of illiteracy and poverty.

Kite festival celebrations with the children at the project. The festival celebrates the end of winter (although the cold weather persists!) and the awakening of the gods and is a huge celebration in India, giving thanks to Surya the sun god. 🌞
