🌏 Eight States. One Northeast. One Shared Purpose.
A new chapter begins for palliative care in Northeast India!

The inauguration of the IAPC’s North-East Regional Chapter and the first North-East Palliative Care Leadership Meet & Academic Symposium, held on Saturday, 12 September 2026, marked the beginning of a collective regional movement to bring quality palliative care services closer to communities across North-East India.

Organised by the Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPC) in association with P.A. Sangma International Medical College & Hospital, Meghalaya, the Leadership Meet and Academic Symposium brought together palliative care leaders and healthcare professionals and students from across the region.

Representatives from all eight North-Eastern states came together to chart a five-year roadmap for strengthening palliative care infrastructure, professional training, local leadership, and access to quality care.

IAPC’s North-East Regional Chapter was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr Raj Prabha Moktan (Director, Regional Research Centre for North East, a branch of the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India) in the gracious presence of Dr Geeta Joshi (President, IAPC).

Congratulations to Dr. Sanghamitra Bora (Hon. Secretary, IAPC) and her team for steering this journey towards a dedicated North-East Palliative Care Chapter!

Apply Now for IAPC’s Foundation Course in Palliative Care Pharmacy; 26 September 2026

With the last date for applications fast approaching, interested candidates are encouraged to apply at the earliest.

Course Date: 26 September 2026

This is a basic course which aims to equip participants with adequate knowledge of commonly used drugs in Palliative Care for pain management and to manage other symptoms. The course will also cover Essential Narcotic Drugs and Narcotic Drugs, along with the technical legalities to procure, store, dispense and document the same.

The 7-hour Online Course will be delivered in two parts: Part A- 4.5-hour and Part B 2.5-hour

While the course is primarily designed for candidates with a Diploma or a Degree in Pharmacy, Doctors (MBBS, BDS) are also eligible to participate in the course.

📢 Inaugural Northeast Palliative Care Leadership Meet & Academic Symposium, 12 September 2026

We are proud to announce that P.A. Sangma International Medical College & Hospital, under the University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya (USTM), will host this landmark event with the support of the Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPC) on Saturday, 12 September 2026.

This day-long programme will bring together students, faculty, and palliative care leaders from across all eight Northeastern states to learn, collaborate, and chart the way forward for palliative care in the region.
