The Students’ Federation of India (SFI), Gujarat State Committee, expresses its firm solidarity with the students of Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), Gandhinagar, who have come together to raise legitimate concerns regarding hostel facilities, water supply, mess services, hygiene, maintenance and the overall living conditions on the university campus.
The concerns raised by the students are not merely administrative matters. Clean and safe drinking water, hygienic and nutritious food, properly maintained hostels and a safe and dignified living environment are essential conditions for students to pursue their education.
SFI Gujarat stands with the students in their demand that the GNLU administration take immediate and concrete steps to address these concerns. Repeated complaints from students cannot be met merely with assurances. There must be transparency, accountability and a time-bound mechanism for resolving the issues raised.
SFI Gujarat supports the following demands:
1. Immediate intervention by the GNLU administration on the issues concerning hostels, water supply, mess facilities, hygiene and maintenance.
2. A comprehensive and time-bound inspection of hostel facilities, drinking-water systems and mess services, with the findings and corrective measures communicated transparently to students.
3. A definite timeline for resolving each identified problem, with responsibility fixed for implementation and monitoring.
4. A transparent and accessible grievance-redressal mechanism, with meaningful participation and representation of students.
5. Regular consultation with students on matters directly affecting their academic and residential life on campus.
