The Science Journalists Association of India, in association with the Solutions Journalism Network (SJN), is bringing journalists, scientists and practitioners together to explore nature-based solutions and other approaches to the Himalaya’s environmental and social challenges. What’s working? What isn’t? And what can we learn from the people trying new approaches on the ground?

The Himalaya Solutions Huddle is a three-day residential workshop in Himachal Pradesh for upto 15 journalists based in or working in India's Himalayan states on 26-28 October 2026.

India’s landscapes hold stories of shifting tectonic plates, changing rivers, ancient rocks, groundwater and much more. Researchers across the country are uncovering these stories, yet countless discoveries and insights from India’s research institutes remain untold, partly because geoscientists and journalists don’t always speak the same language.

We’re launching two companion surveys to understand where those gaps are. If you’re a geoscientist working on India’s landscapes, or a science journalist/communicator keen to tell more geo-stories, please take this survey.

Archives aren't just for historians; they can be powerful reporting tools for journalists.

Join the SJAI and Milli Archives Foundation Milli Archives Foundation , a non-profit network of archives and archivists dedicated to building, nurturing and sustaining archives across India, for an interactive webinar exploring how archives can enrich science and environmental journalism.

In this session, we'll discuss the basics of leveraging archives for journalism:
📚 What archives are and the different kinds of archives across India
🔎 How to identify, access and navigate archives for reporting
📝 How archival material can strengthen stories, with real-world journalism examples
💬 When archivists can become valuable sources for a story

The session is designed primarily for journalists and science communicators, but registrations are open to anyone interested.

Jaya Ravindran: Founding Director, Milli Archives Foundation, and former archivist at the National Archives of India with nearly three decades of experience.

We're excited to announce a new partnership between the Science Journalists Association of India (SJAI) and the Solutions Journalism Network (SJN), a global nonprofit that works with journalists and newsrooms to strengthen rigorous reporting on responses to social challenges.

Together, we'll work to strengthen climate solutions reporting in India through fellowships, building a peer network of journalists, and collaboratively developing a reporters' guide on AI-driven climate interventions.

If you're interested in science, climate, and solutions journalism, stay tuned. We'll be sharing updates, opportunities, and resources on this channel in the coming months.
