Every building begins with the people who build it.

In The Times of India, Shri Aalap Patel, President, CREDAI Ahmedabad, shared that the construction sector is currently witnessing a 30 to 40% labour shortage across projects. Despite this challenge, developers are making conscious efforts to retain workers by providing accommodation, support for their children’s education, LPG facilities, and other welfare measures.

Building a better ecosystem for workers is essential for building a stronger future for the industry.

In a recent interaction with The Economic Times, Shri Shekhar Patel, President, CREDAI National, shared his views on the ongoing challenges impacting the real estate sector amid rising construction costs and supply side disruptions.

He highlighted that construction costs have increased by over 25%, driven by supply chain disruptions, labour migration, rising raw material prices, and shortages of critical materials. While cost escalation remains a major concern, the larger challenge currently is the nonavailability of key materials, which is impacting project ex*****on timelines across the sector.

He also mentioned that CREDAI has engaged with the Union Housing Ministry, seeking appropriate RERA timeline relief to safeguard the interests of both developers and homebuyers during this challenging phase for the industry.

Ahmedabad is steadily emerging as Gujarat’s next major GCC destination driven by world-class infrastructure, a rapidly growing Grade A office ecosystem, competitive operating costs, and strong policy support.

As highlighted by Shri Shekhar Patel, President CREDAI National, Ahmedabad already has nearly 15 to 20 Grade A premium office developments suited for large multinational occupiers and GCCs, while the city currently hosts 36 to 40 operational GCCs with the potential to grow significantly in the coming years. He further emphasized that Gujarat’s industrial strength, engineering talent pool, improving infrastructure, and strategic developments across Ahmedabad, GIFT City, and Gandhinagar are collectively positioning the state as a strong alternative to traditional GCC hubs.

With increasing global interest and long-term infrastructure expansion underway, Gujarat is poised to enter a new era of investment, innovation, employment generation, and economic transformation.

Standing firmly with the dreams of every homebuyer.

Despite rising construction costs, global geopolitical uncertainty, supply chain disruptions, and labour challenges, developers associated with CREDAI Ahmedabad have collectively decided not to increase property prices till 30th June 2026 keeping the larger public interest in mind.

At a time when the cost of key construction materials such as steel, cement, aluminium, tiles, glass, and other essential inputs continues to rise sharply, the industry has chosen to absorb a significant part of the burden to ensure that aspiring homebuyers are not impacted immediately.

CREDAI Ahmedabad GIHED remains committed to trust, transparency, and responsible growth while continuing to contribute towards the vision of “Housing for All” and the growth story of Ahmedabad.
