To our media partners ๐Ÿค

A conference, at its core, is about sharing ideas. Conferences like the India Land & Development Conference (ILDC) put all kinds of effort into ensuring that itโ€™s not just experts who participate in its conversations, efforts into lowering the barriers of time and language by uploading full sessions online and facilitating real-time translation wherever possible.

And yet, it goes only so far.

What furthers the cause of accessibility to land dialogue better than us is our media partners, and other non-affiliate media outlets.

For example, when reports on the session ๐™๐™š๐™ž๐™ข๐™–๐™œ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ โ€˜๐™’๐™–๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ก๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™๐™จโ€™ ๐™ค๐™› ๐™„๐™ฃ๐™™๐™ž๐™–: ๐™‹๐™ค๐™ก๐™ž๐™˜๐™ฎ ๐˜ฟ๐™ž๐™จ๐™˜๐™ช๐™จ๐™จ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™จ ๐™›๐™ค๐™ง ๐˜ผ๐™ง๐™ž๐™™ ๐˜พ๐™ค๐™ข๐™ข๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™จ organised by it brings the issues of community governance over common lands into the mainstream.

When .in interviews the panelists at the conference, it brings us that much closer to the ideal of laypeople probing the experts, while the experts get to clear misconceptions.

When hosts ILDCโ€™s content, it gives Indiaโ€™s land dialogue visibility and input, through international participants and delegations.

And most importantly, when independent journalists like Mr Satish Bhartiya report on the conference in regional languages, we can only ever be grateful to be reaching people we wouldnโ€™t have otherwise.

So a big thank you to all our media partners over the years and to media outlets not affiliated to us, first of all, we hope you partner with us for ILDC2026, but if you donโ€™t, thank you for working for the cause anyway.

Land matters cannot be meaningfully discussed in silos. The essence of any land problem calls for collaborations, partnerships and ongoing negotiations. India Land & Development Conference (ILDC) embodies this principle in practice. Our partners have not just participated in ILDC, but have guided its direction, often from each editionโ€™s conception.

This is what makes ILDC unique in its planning and approach. We have a saying - โ€œ๐™‹๐™š๐™ค๐™ฅ๐™ก๐™š ๐™ฌ๐™๐™ค ๐™Ÿ๐™ค๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™š๐™™ ๐™ช๐™จ, ๐™™๐™š๐™˜๐™ž๐™™๐™š๐™™ ๐™ฉ๐™ค ๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™–๐™ฎ ๐™ฌ๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™ ๐™ช๐™จ.โ€ So, in a way, our partners are also our co-travellers. ๐ŸŒŸ Starting from 6 partners in 2019, to 26 in 2022 and 78 partners in ILDC2025, the conference has been sustained by its partner organisations who bring their insights and expertise with which the attendees engage. As we turn 10 this year, we wish to take this moment and celebrate our partners.

If you are curious about land, its challenges, negotiations and solutions, ILDC is the place for you. As we conceptualise the 2026 edition, we encourage you to visit โœจildc.co.inโœจ and share your thoughts to help shape this year's ILDC.

As is the case with many ventures, the India Land & Development Conference (ILDC) had humble beginnings. The seed idea came about when some of us got the opportunity to attend land conferences outside of India.

The exposure to international platforms on land made us think - why not create a space for similar dialogues in India? After all, India had no dearth of land related issues and was already being challenged with fragmented narratives. People working on land needed to speak to each other. So, in an effort to unite these narratives on all things land, the first ILDC was held in 2017 under the late Dr Tajamul Haqueโ€™s leadership. Over the years, the conference has been conducted all over the country, sometimes even online. It has only grown bigger and bigger, providing a platform for varied actors to come together and interact, actors who mightโ€™ve otherwise not interacted. Last year ILDC with its 84 partners saw nearly 550 participants attending 73 sessions.

This year being the 10th edition, we aim for even more dialogues and collaborations.

The goal of ILDC remains simple. As Dr Haque had once said, "We may not be able to solve all the land related problems that are discussed at ILDC. But we promise to try to continue this dialogue, try to find solutions to all our land concerns."

Land lies at the heart of development debates today. Rapid urbanisation, climate change, energy transitions and growing demands on natural resources are transforming how land is governed, used and valued. These transformations present profound opportunities but also complex challenges that demand thoughtful engagement across sectors and disciplines. Over the last decade, India Land Development Conference (ILDC) has evolved into a vibrant and collaborative ecosystem that enables critical conversations on land governance, tenure systems and sustainable development pathways.

We are delighted to announce that this year will be ILDCโ€™s 10th edition! The conference will once again provide a platform where diverse actors can exchange knowledge, share experiences and collectively explore solutions to the complex challenges surrounding land governance.

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Mark your calendars for 17-19 November, 2026 at XIM University, Bhubaneshwar. Be part of the conversation. Keep watching this space if you would like to participate.
