The old and senior citizens, who have provided a great service to the society, feel neglected and unwanted at this stage of life. The declini
ng physical strength and other ailments add to their problems. It is the social practice at this fag end of their lives which is a cause of major concern. The problem is more severe in the urban areas and it is going to worsen in the coming years. Autumn of Life Foundation focuses on the older section of the society which requires utmost concern and support. Our idea is to have:
A day care centre for the senior citizens lacking love and attention at home where they can meet people of their age, socialize, get entertained, involved in activities, indulge in meditation, and undertake hobbies for which they had not had the time to pursue due to personal commitments. An old age home for the abandoned and abused senior citizens where they can spend the rest of their lives in peace and respect. This old age home must comprise of all the facilities required by the people for this age to make their life easier. The section of the educated old people in this old age home could indulge in activities like, teaching and educating the poor and the under privileged sections of Indian society. Also, a small section of the old age home could be reserved for the abandoned and exploited children. The idea of combining an old age home with an orphanage is to share the love that these two sections of the society are lacking. The experience, knowledge and values that the old people have gained through their life would act as basis for educating the children in the orphanage and contribute in building their better future.
