हर दिन रेलवे स्टेशन के बाहर हज़ारों लोग गुज़रते हैं। किसी को अपनी ट्रेन पकड़ने की जल्दी होती है, तो कोई अपने घर लौटने की उतावली में होता है। इस भागती-दौड़ती दुनिया की भीड़ से ज़रा अलग, स्टेशन के एक कोने में फुटपाथ पर फटे हुए बोरे पर बैठी रहती थी एक बूढ़ी माँ। सफेद बाल, चेहरे पर उम्र और झुर्रियों की गहरी लकीरें, और आँखों में दुखों का एक समंदर... लेकिन इस मतलबी दुनिया के लिए वह सिर्फ एक गुमनाम सब्जी बेचने वाली थी।
ग़रीबी का वो भयानक रूप
उस माँ की आर्थिक स्थिति सिर्फ खराब नहीं थी, बल्कि रूह को कंपा देने वाली थी। वो बेहद ग़रीब थी। ज़रा गौर से देखिए उस माँ की हालत को... बदन पर जो साड़ी थी, वो जगह-जगह से फटी हुई थी। धूप और बारिश ने उस साड़ी का रंग तक उड़ा दिया था। फटे हुए हिस्सों को सुई-धागे से जोड़ने की कोशिश तो की गई थी, लेकिन ग़रीबी के घाव उन धागों से कहीं ज़्यादा बड़े थे।
और सबसे ज़्यादा दिल दुखाने वाला मंज़र तो नीचे था... उस माँ के पैरों में कुछ नहीं था।
हाँ, उनके पैरों में एक अदद चप्पल तक नहीं थी। कड़कड़ाती ठंड में जब ज़मीन बर्फ जैसी ठंडी हो जाती है, या कड़कती धूप में जब कोयले जैसी सड़क जलने लगती है, वो माँ उसी तपते डामर पर नंगे पैर चलती थी। पैरों की एड़ियाँ इतनी फट चुकी थीं कि उनसे खून तक आ जाता था। ₹20 की प्लास्टिक की चप्पल भी उस माँ के लिए एक बहुत बड़ा सपना थी।
तारीफ़ के काबिल स्वाभिमान
इतनी बेबसी और लाचारी के बाद भी उस माँ ने कभी किसी के आगे हाथ नहीं फैलाया, कभी भीख नहीं माँगी। वो अपने कांपते हाथों से तराजू थामे, स्वाभिमान के साथ चंद रुपयों की सब्ज़ियाँ बेचकर अपना पेट पालने की कोशिश कर रही थी। लेकिन लोग? लोग चंद रुपयों के धनिए और मिर्च के लिए भी उस बूढ़ी माँ से बहस करते थे, मोल-भाव करते थे। कोई यह नहीं सोचता था कि इस माँ पर क्या गुज़र रही होगी।
फिर फरिश्ता बनकर आए आरव भाई
कहते हैं कि जब इंसानियत दम तोड़ने लगती है, तो भगवान किसी न किसी को मसीहा बनाकर ज़रूर भेजता है। उस दिन भी ऐसा ही हुआ। जब वो माँ अपनी फटी साड़ी के पल्लू से अपनी आँखों के आँसू पोंछ रही थी, तभी वहाँ से आरव भाई गुज़रे।
आरव भाई की नज़र उस माँ के कांपते हाथों और उनके धूल से सने, फटे हुए नंगे पैरों पर पड़ी। उस जलती हुई सड़क पर माँ के नंगे पैर देखकर आरव भाई का दिल अंदर तक रो पड़ा। उन्हें उस बुज़ुर्ग महिला में अपनी माँ, अपनी दादी माँ नज़र आई। उन्होंने सोच लिया कि वो इस दर्द को अनदेखा करके आगे नहीं बढ़ सकते।
इंसानियत की एक खूबसूरत मिसाल
आरव भाई बाज़ार गए और उन्होंने उस माँ के लिए एक सुंदर और नई साड़ी खरीदी। लेकिन वो वहीं नहीं रुके, उन्होंने एक दुकान से उस माँ के पैरों के नाप की एक अच्छी और आरामदायक चप्पल भी खरीदी।
जब आरव भाई वापस लौटे और उन्होंने वो नई साड़ी और चप्पल उस माँ के कांपते हाथों में सौंपी, तो मानो वक्त वहीं थम गया। उस माँ ने सालों बाद किसी की आँखों में अपने लिए ऐसा आदर और प्यार देखा था। आरव भाई ने खुद अपने हाथों से उस माँ के छालों से भरे पैरों में चप्पल पहनाई।

At 42^\circ\text{C}, the asphalt felt like a burning furnace, and the air was thick with suffocating heat. Outside the grand gates of the local temple, a crowd of devotees moved back and forth. They were dressed in beautiful clothes, carrying baskets of flowers and sweets, deeply immersed in their prayers and chants.
But just a few feet away from the holy steps, sitting on the dusty, blistering pavement, was a different kind of reality. A reality that humanity often chooses to ignore.

They were safe because of the kindness of one man. ीरा के माता-पिता इस दुनिया में नहीं थे। घर में खाने का एक दाना नहीं था। अपनी बहनों का पेट पालने के लिए मीरा रोज़ तपती धूप में शहर के बड़े चौराहे पर खड़ी होकर सिंदूर बेचा करती थी। वह भीख नहीं माँगती थी, वह मेहनत करती थी। लेकिन शहर के लोग बहुत व्यस्त थे, किसी के पास एक गरीब लड़की का दर्द सुनने का समय नहीं था।एक दिन सुबह से शाम हो गई, लेकिन मीरा का एक भी सिंदूर का पैकेट नहीं बिका। भूख के मारे उसकी बहनों की हालत खराब हो रही थी। मीरा की आँखों में आँसू थे और दिल में डर। उसे लग रहा था कि अगर आज उसने पैसे नहीं कमाए, तो उसकी बहनें भूख से दम तोड़ देंगी।तभी वहां से आरव भाई अपनी गाड़ी में गुज़रे। जैसे ही ट्रैफिक सिग्नल लाल हुआ, मीरा आरव भाई की गाड़ी के पास दौड़कर गई। वह फूट-फूट कर रोने लगी।उसने रोते हुए कहा, "भैया... ओ भैया! प्लीज मेरा सिंदूर खरीद लो। सुबह से एक भी पैसा नहीं कमाया है। घर में खाना नहीं है, मेरी तीन छोटी बहनें भूखी हैं। अगर आज उन्हें खाना नहीं मिला, तो वो मर जाएँगी। प्लीज मेरी मदद करो!उस रात मीरा की तीनों बहनों ने भरपेट खाना खाया। यह कहानी हमें सिखाती है कि हमारे पास जो थोड़ा सा धन है, उससे हम किसी का पूरा संसार बचा सकते हैं। कभी भी किसी मजबूर की मेहनत का मजाक न उड़ाएं, बल्कि फरिश्ता बनकर उनकी मदद करें। #इंसानियत #भावुककहानी
