Out and About is coming together with our very favourite Naomi one more time in Goa on an 8-day dance theatre workshop. And we will have Prerna as well who is an actor, dancer and Butoh practioner.

It's very short notice but it's worth the effort if you are willing to push for 1 week of work from home (Goa) or take a break.

If you can't commit 8 days and wanna join only few classes, there is option of dropping in as well.

We are not arranging stay or transport for Goa as we usually do for all our Out and About events but if you need help with stay, we are more than happy to guide you, please reach out to us.

This is an unique opportunity to get rid of the inhibitions we weigh our body and mind with. At the heart of nature, we try to embrace our whole self without any conditioning of gender or s*xuality, we try to reach out to our core self.

A year ago Ayushi our super cool Art director went on a journey to document the state of The Nag river in her hometown Nagpur, Maharashtra.
She and her brilliant project partner after intensive research and months of post production have released a two part documentary UDGAM & SANGAM ( link in Bio ) 🙌🏽nagruk

Eco feminism being one of our core values at Hers is Ours, we're thrilled to announce that HIO is the official Co-producer of the documentary 💚

The film aims to raise awareness about Nag river's pollution offering a vision for a sustainable future. It also sheds light on a 60,000 urban poor people facing eviction as the government prioritizes beautification of the riverfront while rejuvenation remains a distant dream.

Feel free to reach out to us if you want to discuss the project further or if you wish to support the documentary via screenings etc 💌

Our story

"It takes two flints to make a fire." – Louisa May Alcott

The story of this project is about women from different cultures and backgrounds coming together. It all started when I met Robin Chaurasiya, the co-founder of Kranti, an NGO based in Mumbai empowering girls from the red light district. Having left my home country (France) and just arrived in India to work on Human Rights reports in some organization, my plans took quickly another direction. Robin awakened that longing to do something concrete, something meaningful to me. It is then that the first glimpse of this project was born and which since, grew as much as I did. The urge for denouncing gender-based violence and the need to remain hopeful for change, led me to choose film-making to touch people and their perspective. Plus, stirred and inspired by the path of women such as those from Kranti, it is this that I wanted to share.

This was only the beginning of a very enriching journey. Other activists came across, and this is how I met the artist Neha Chaturvedi who believed in this project which therefore, took a drastic turn. In May 2019, a series of documentaries was decided of which the first subject would be Kranti, who was back then performing in Europe. Neha introduced me to another artist working on the place of women, Ayushi Shriramwar. Together, we acted on a driven impulse and went to follow Kranti in Europe.

This is how Ayushi, I as well as the cinematographer Nina Defontaine (who got to hear about our last minute shooting trip, and willing to be in charge of filming), all met in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, France, to walk with Kranti on the way to Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
