On 27 December 1942, Albert Ekka was born in village Zari, Gumla (Jharkhand) a brave soldier whose life became a symbol of courage and sacrifice.
During the 1971 Indo-Pak War, he displayed exceptional bravery at Gangasagar, leading a daring assault on a heavily defended enemy position. Even after being critically wounded, he continued the attack, ensuring the capture of the post at the cost of his life.
For his supreme valour, Albert Ekka was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, Indiaโs highest military honour.
