IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL GRAPPLING PLAYERS OF TRIPURA
All Grappling players, parents, coaches, and academies in Tripura are requested to read this notice carefully.
Grappling is an internationally recognized sport governed by United World Wrestling (UWW). UWW is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and is responsible for the international governance and development of Grappling.
In India, the Grappling Federation of India (GFI) is the national federation recognized by United World Wrestling (UWW) for the promotion and development of Grappling.
It has come to our attention that an organization operating under the name "Grappling Committee" has been organizing national-level Grappling competitions while claiming recognition through the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). As a result, many athletes have participated in these events believing they are officially recognized.
After winning Gold, Silver, or Bronze medals in such competitions, many athletes and parents have contacted us seeking information about participation in the UWW Asian Grappling Championships and the UWW World Grappling Championships.
Please note that eligibility to participate in UWW-recognized international Grappling championships is determined by the applicable rules, selection procedures, and the recognized national governing body. Therefore, athletes are strongly advised to verify the official recognition of any organization before participating in its competitions.
All Grappling players, parents, coaches, and academies in Tripura are advised not to be misled by unverified claims. Before participating in any event, verify the official recognition of the organizing body through the official websites of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), United World Wrestling (UWW), and the recognized national governing body.
