NARLANCHEM ZUZ is a very old and traditional Game played in a small ward of Agassaim named Dugrem.This Game is connected with the feast of St. Lawrence our Patron of Agassaim,which is celebrated on 10th August every year.As per the tradition,on the evening of the feast day,the village people of Agassaim and neighbouring village would gather at the ground of the ward Dugrem with their coconuts and
break each others coconut. "Young Stars of Dugrem" was formed in the year 1970.Accordinly 1st All Goa Cococnut Breaking Contest was organised in 1970 according to rules and regulations.At the coconut breaking competition, the coconuts of the participants are checked for water content and the diameter. This is done by the coconut inspection committee, the rules of the game is that the coconut should not fit into the ring of 10 cms and at that no coconut should be less than the required size but can be more. The coconut is allowed to roll down towards the competitor by the opponent and the competitor on the other end has to break the coconut with the coconut of his own without physically damaging his own one. In this way each time the coconut is rolled, the competitor has to eliminate his opponent by breaking all the rival coconuts. At the end the participant possessing the maximum number of coconuts is declared the winner. This game has no age bar neither it is restricted for male participants; anyone and everyone can participate. Similarly another event organized by the “Young Stars of Dugrem” which significantly grew over the years.To attract more crowd we now organise ALL GOA DANCE COMPETITION , MUSICAL SHOW and many more items.
