Meet Nizam Ahmed Mohaideen, the co founder of Where Is My Train — an app born out of a simple everyday problem: train delays and the lack of reliable updates for Indian passengers. Built by Sigmoid Labs, the app became hugely popular because it could track train locations without internet or GPS, using cell tower data instead. That made it especially useful for users traveling through low-network areas across India. In 2018, Google acquired the startup in what was widely reported as its first product acquisition in India. While the exact deal value was not officially disclosed, multiple reports at the time estimated it at around $30–40 million, roughly ₹217 crore to ₹290 crore, which is why it is often cited as around ₹280 crore.
