This week, we had the privilege of representing NATAL at the 21st Federal Congress on Emergency Chaplaincy and Crisis Intervention in Germany, bringing together professionals and community leaders from across the country.

We were invited by Rev. Dr. Thomas Seifert, who sought to share with conference participants the knowledge and experience NATAL has developed over many years of working in the fields of emergency response, trauma recovery, and community rehabilitation.

During the congress, we delivered lectures and a workshop focused on one of the subjects closest to our hearts: the power of community. We explored the connection between resilience, emergency preparedness, and belonging, and discussed how communities can become a vital resource both in times of crisis and throughout the process of recovery and growth.

At a time when Israeli society continues to face complex challenges, it is inspiring to see how the knowledge, models, and experience developed here are resonating far beyond our borders and helping communities around the
world prepare for the moments
when being together matters most.

This week, NATAL had the privilege of being hosted by the Swiss Ambassador to Israel, Simon Geissbühler, for a diplomatic breakfast briefing joined by ambassadors and representatives from seven embassies.

Our CEO, opened the gathering by sharing NATAL’s mission and the scope of our work: clinical services, our 24/7 helpline, training programs, and research, and how all of it has intensified since October 7.

Our Director of Research, , then brought a question that rarely makes it into diplomatic conversations: What is the true cost of national crises?

The answer reaches far beyond the individual. Trauma spills into workplaces, schools, family systems, and national economies, and the indirect costs often dwarf the direct ones. NATAL’s research puts numbers to what many already sense but struggle to quantify.

What makes NATAL’s position distinctive is the combination of direct connection to the field, longitudinal data from thousands of people, and nearly three decades of developing evidence based models and protocols.
Through NATAL Global and our international partnerships, we work to ensure that what we learn here can strengthen resilience wherever it is needed.
