The discussion will bring together three major reports examining the sexual and gender-based violence committed on October 7 and against hostages in captivity, exploring what each report reveals and why their findings matter.

This is a conversation about evidence, accountability, and ensuring that the victims’ experiences are neither denied nor forgotten.

But at what cost?

According to current reports, the U.S. and Iran have reached a memorandum of understanding — not necessarily a final long-term peace agreement.

Trump announced that the deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran was “complete,” and said the Strait of Hormuz would reopen and the U.S. naval blockade would be removed.

Reports say the MoU may include a halt to U.S.-Iran military operations, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the removal of the naval blockade, and a 60-day period for further talks on Iran’s nuclear program.

Some reports also suggest the draft could include sanctions-related relief, oil waivers, and the release of frozen Iranian assets. But these details remain part of reported draft terms, not a publicly finalized agreement.

And that is exactly the point.

Because what this MoU does not clearly guarantee is just as important as what it may include.

It does not clearly guarantee the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear program.

It does not clearly limit Iran’s ballistic missile program.

It does not clearly end Iran’s support for Hezbollah and other terror proxies.

It does not clearly provide security guarantees for Israel.

And it does not appear to offer protection for the Iranian people — especially women, protesters, dissidents, and minorities still living under the oppression of the Islamic Republic and the IRGC.

Even as this MoU was being discussed, Israel was still being threatened.

After Hezbollah fire from Lebanon and Israeli strikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut, Iranian officials warned of a response. This is the reality Israel continues to face: a regime that funds terror abroad while repressing its own people at home.

De-escalation matters.

But real peace cannot be only about oil routes, signatures, and diplomatic announcements.

Real peace must protect civilians.
Real peace must confront terror.
Real peace must secure Israel.
And real peace must stand with the Iranian people.

The Iranian people are not the regime.

Tomorrow, Tel Aviv will march with pride.
Rainbow flags will fill the streets. People will celebrate openly, love openly, protest openly and be seen openly.
But just beyond Israel’s borders, the reality for LGBTQ+ people is very different.
Across much of the Middle East, LGBTQ+ people still face criminalization, persecution, imprisonment, violence and in some places, even the possibility of death. For many, living openly is not an option. Safety can depend entirely on which country you were born in, which border you live behind and whether your identity is protected or punished.
That is the contrast this post is about.
Israel is not perfect. No democracy is. There is still more work to do, more rights to protect and more equality to fight for. But in this region, Israel stands apart.
It is a place where Pride is public.�Where LGBTQ+ people can serve, organize, protest, build families, love openly and demand change.�Where activists can push the courts, challenge the government and continue expanding rights.
That matters.
Because Pride is not just a parade.�It is visibility.�It is resilience.�It is freedom.
And in a region where too many LGBTQ+ people are forced into silence, visibility is an act of courage.

Iran War 3? Here’s what we know so far.

Over the past 24 hours, a dangerous escalation has unfolded across the region.

It began with renewed Hezbollah fire toward northern Israel, raising fears of a wider regional confrontation. In response, Israel carried out targeted strikes against Hezbollah-related targets in Beirut’s southern suburbs.

Following the Beirut strike, Iran launched several waves of ballistic missiles toward northern and northern-central Israel overnight, sending families rushing to protected spaces.

During the night, Israel carried out strikes on military targets in Iran, including air defense systems, radar sites, and ballistic missile launch sites, according to Israeli reports.

This morning, missiles were launched toward Israel from both Iran and Yemen, setting off sirens across central and southern Israel. A home was hit in Samaria, and three buildings were damaged. Thankfully, no physical injuries were reported in that incident.

Behind every headline are families waking children in the middle of the night, elderly people rushing to protected rooms, and communities waiting for the next siren.

A significant milestone in the IDF: For the first time, a female combat soldier has successfully completed the dedicated training track for Sayeret Matkal and been accepted into the elite unit.

Sayeret Matkal is one of the IDF’s most elite special forces units, known for intelligence-gathering, counterterrorism, and complex operations deep behind enemy lines.

The achievement is part of a pilot program to integrate women into combat and special forces units, which began in December 2024. After passing a preliminary selection process and meeting all the required criteria, the soldier completed a training track that lasted more than a year and a half.

WIZO congratulates the IDF on another meaningful moment in the ongoing effort to expand opportunities for meaningful service for women in combat roles, and on a milestone of historic importance within Israel’s defense establishment. 🇮🇱💪🏻

The competition took place in Ra’anana, where Carmel competed in the 2011 age category (up to 50 kg) and delivered an incredible performance to secure the title of Israel’s Vice Champion.

Carmel’s achievement is a true reflection of hard work, determination, and perseverance and we couldn’t be prouder.

On June 1–2, 1941, during Shavuot, a violent pogrom erupted against the Jewish community of Baghdad.

Known as the Farhud, the attacks left around 150 to 180 Jews murdered, hundreds wounded, and an ancient community forever changed.

For Iraqi Jewry, whose roots in Babylon stretched back more than 2,500 years, the Farhud marked a devastating turning point.

Today, we remember the victims, honor the resilience of Iraqi Jews, and carry their stories forward.

May their memory never be forgotten. 🕯️✡️
