GIVUN (Hebrew for diversity) is a young NGO that promotes, strengthens, and creates educational tools for the public sector (education, security forces and local (municipal) governments in order to enhance their ability to manage social diversity effectively. GIVUN was created as a response to the strong use of racism, intolerance, incitement and hatred as pillars of governing. We believe that a s
ociety based on hatred cannot become a sustainable society, but one based on love and acceptance can. We see social diversity as an essential pillar to create and sustain a tolerant, inclusive, welcoming and exemplar society. We perceive social diversity as a phenomenon beyond the realm of belonging to religious national or ethnic groups and needs to take into account the realms of gender, sexual preferences, issues of body wholeness, body image and mental health, age and lifestyle. Throughout GIVUN 's activities, a platform is created for individuals and groups to connect to the natural idea of diversity, to include, integrate it, as it demands awareness, knowledge, training and practice. Exercising in a formal an informal way this awareness, gives space, amplifies and gives resonance to the power that lies naturally in social diversity and it empowers the individual and the group synchronically. When we recognize social diversity as the building blocks for a tolerant, inclusive, welcoming, sustainable, healthy society, we, as a result, empower all individuals and as a result create a strong society.
