Dror Israel

Dror Israel Dror Israel is a leading force for social change in Israel. Dror Israel educators live in the neighborhoods we serve, bridging gaps and solving local problems.

Over 1,300 mission-driven educators work to build strong communities, strengthen social cohesion, and train the next generation of leaders, bettering the lives of over 200,000 Israelis yearly. Through innovative education based on dialogue and understanding, we teach leadership and responsibility for self and community, promoting social action to drive change. Our areas of work include: schools fo

r youth at risk, Jewish-Arab programs, national social justice initiatives, educational workshops, and Israel’s largest youth movement. When COVID hit, we opened daycare centers in hospitals, maintained our schools for Israel’s most vulnerable youth, delivered food and medicine to homebound elderly, volunteered on farms, and provided online programs for thousands of teens. Serving our communities in need, with the passion to create a caring, just, shared society is what drives us every day.

After years of war, displacement, and repeated rocket attacks, the residents of Metula are doing more than rebuilding homes and businesses — they are rebuilding community.

Through social entrepreneurship programs, community storytelling projects, and local leadership initiatives, Dror Israel is supporting residents as they shape the future of Israel's northernmost town.

We are grateful to our partners at Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles for helping make this work possible. Their support allows us to stand alongside communities like Metula as they recover, reconnect, and move forward.

Rather than focusing only on physical rebuilding, these efforts recognize that community resilience is built through relationships,....

After the murder of 21 year old Yemanu Zelka last month, participants from NOAL’s Hahoresh branch in Petah Tikva organized a rally against violence together with the municipality.

At a time of rising youth violence and deep social strain across Israel, these teenagers chose not to stay silent. Holding signs reading “The Change Starts With Us” and “We Are All Brothers,” they gathered to mourn, speak out, and call for a different reality.

Through project-based learning, social pedagogy, and community engagement, students are developing practical skills, leadership, and a sense of responsibility toward strengthening their own communities.

Last month, Dror Israel and NOAL organized a medic training course for young educators and youth leaders from across the country, including several young leaders from branches in Druze communities, who chose to take on the responsibility of lifesaving care during a deeply difficult time.

Completing the course during months of war and instability required commitment, calm under pressure, and a deep sense of responsibility toward others.

As one participant shared: “I’m proud to be part of a family [like the youth movement] that educates toward values, responsibility, and saving lives.”

We are incredibly proud of all the new medics who stepped forward to learn to care for their communities.

A conversation between Mati from Holon and Elisha from Sderot at a Dror Israel gathering earlier this year led to something much bigger: a meaningful encounter between two senior community groups living very different realities over the past two years.

Together they shared stories, toured the Gaza border region, and built new connections rooted in mutual responsibility and care.

Across Dror Israel’s Senior Community Network, thousands of older adults are strengthening community resilience the same way - through relationships, initiative, and the decision to continue showing up for one another.

Mazal tov to Yaron Krimka, a 12th grade student at Dror Israel’s High School in Carmiel, who received the Ministry of Education’s Elad Riven Award for Active and Outstanding Youth Leadership.

Yaron was recognized for years of meaningful social involvement — from founding and leading a local NOAL youth movement branch, to volunteering with elderly residents, mentoring younger students, and mobilizing for civic initiatives since the outbreak of the war.

His award is not only a personal achievement. It reflects the kind of education we believe in: helping young people take responsibility, strengthen their communities, and actively shape the society around them.

We are so proud of you, Yaron 💙

"Bros with Values"

Last weekend, teen boys from NOAL’s Hod HaSharon branch came together for a seminar focused on friendship, responsibility, and what it means to grow into manhood in Israel today.

At a time of rising violence across Israeli society, the seminar created space for honest conversations about masculinity, violence, and the responsibility they as men hold toward one another and towards society.

Alongside the serious conversations were soccer games, shared experiences, and plenty of laughter, a reminder that education begins with relationships, trust, and community.

Today, thousands of youth from HaNoar HaOved VeHaLomed (NOAL) take part in the “Bouquets for the Fallen” initiative, distributing flowers at no cost to bereaved families at 250 cemeteries across Israel. For 45 years, this has been a quiet but powerful expression of remembrance, connection, and responsibility. We stand alongside families in their most difficult moments and honor the lives of those who were lost.

For the young people who take part, this is not only about giving flowers. It is about learning the stories of the fallen, understanding the weight of loss carried by so many families, and choosing to show up with care and respect. Year after year, families arrive on this difficult day knowing that someone will be there to greet them, not just as ceremony, but as a genuine gesture.

During Passover, Dror Israel and NOAL ran day camps for 120 children in Tel Aviv evacuated from their homes after missile damage.

In hotels and protected spaces, daily activities created a safe place to play, connect, and simply be kids again.

“It was just a few hours,” one educator shared, “but the children needed a place to be and people who see them.”

Dror Israel’s musical ensemble פרויקט השיירה Hashayara traveled to Kiryat Shmona — one of Israel's most heavily bombarded cities — to perform several shows for families in bomb shelters over the past weeks.

With instruments in hand, they brought music, connection, and a sense of relief to those spending long hours under fire.

“Music connects people, lifts the spirit, and gives hope,” shared Gilad Perry “Kiryat Shmona is the place that needs it most right now.”

Soon, HaShayara will be bringing that same spirit to Jewish communities across the U.S with a series of unique performances.
