Ahead of Yom Hashoah ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ

We brought *A Rebellion of Hope* to the chanichim of Machon l'Madrichei Chutz La'aretz โ€” the next generation of Jewish youth leaders from Young Judaea Year Course in Israel Hineni Melbourne Netzer Australia Betar Australia
The exhibition tells the story of youth-led resistance during the Holocaust. After walking through it, their words:

๐Ÿ’ฌ "The youth have more power than they realise
๐Ÿ’ฌ "The exhibit gave me renewed hope."

The rebellion didn't end. It lives in every generation that chooses to remember โ€” and to lead.

In early January, Hechalutz had the privilege of bringing together participants from Toreinu with the Amplify Israel Rabbinic Fellowship near Kiryat Shmona for a powerful and unique experience. ๐ŸŒŸ

35 young Rabbis from across North America had the opportunity to meet with activists on the ground โ€” individuals who are passionate about moving to Israel's northern border and taking part in the rehabilitation of local communities. This event allowed for meaningful conversations and connections that will no doubt have a lasting impact on all involved.

A special thank you to Rabbi Tracy Kaplowitz, Rabbi Ammiel Hirsch, the Amplify Israel Rabbinic Fellowship, and the Stephen Wise Free Synagogue for helping us organize and host this inspiring event. Your support makes all the difference! ๐Ÿ™

โ€œWe walk in their footsteps to understand the legacy we carry today.โ€

This month Hechalutz had the privilege of working with Emanuel School from Sydney, Australia on a transformative Jewish Roots Journey for 26 high school students through Germany, the Czech Republic, and Poland.

Throughout the journey, the students explored the rich history of Jewish civilization on European soil visiting sites of profound significance to our people and cultural heritage. From standing in the heart of Berlin's historic Jewish quarter to walking the streets of Prague where vibrant Jewish life once flourished. In Theresienstadt and Auschwitz we confronted the devastation wreaked by Na**sm and took on the harrowing memory of the Shoah, which is now ours to bear.

Through the streets of Warsaw and Krakow, we walked in the footsteps of Jewish heroes who fought the N***s and devoted their lives to the Jewish and Zionist values of freedom, equality and justice.

โ€œI have never felt more connected to my Judaism, nor prouder to be a young Jewish person... Singing Havdallah songs in a Kosher hotel in Prague and listening to the stories of the Ghetto Fighters have left me feeling deeply empowered. I am in awe of the power of the youth movement. We witnessed the sites where the greatest atrocities were committed against our people, yet I finished this journey with a strong sense of hope for the future.โ€

Hechalutz just concluded a seminar with 17 young adults from Australia and New Zealand, as part of our project - connecting the next generation of Jewish leaders to Israel, especially during these challenging times. Our dedication to fostering strong ties and building resilient communities is at the heart of our work.

One of the participants said:

โ€œThe seminar was an incredible experience, making me feel more connected to Israel than ever before. Meeting activists from civil society was eye-opening, and hiking in Nachal Hakibbutzim rekindled my love for this beautiful country. It reminded me of why I am so proud to be Jewish and part of the Jewish people. Special thanks to Michael and Noa for their unwavering support and guidance throughout this unforgettableย journey.โ€

Thank you to all who have contributed toward making this seminar possible!

There's still time to join our call tonight with Dr. Alon Pauker: Resilience and Renewal, Kibbutzim on the Israeli Border.
Sign up here: https://forms.gle/JsZQEaeKakeWdQBS9
The call is at 8:30pm AEST, hope to see you there!

Resilience and Renewal: Kibbutzim on the Israeli Border

Hechalutz and Habonim Dror Australia are thrilled to invite you to a sicha with Dr Alon Pauker.

Dr. Alon Pauker is a member of the Beit Berl College Department of History, where he researches the relationship between kibbutzim and other Zionist organizations, as well as their interactions with broader society. As a senior lecturer in history, he also heads the Martin Buber Beit Midrash for Dialogical Education, which prepares hundreds of community activists to foster critical thinking and a culture of activism in marginalized communities. Participants in this program live in Jewish and Arab intentional communities in Israelโ€™s periphery and work with at-risk youth in both formal and community-based education.

Dr Pauker will speak about the past, present, and future of kibbutzim in the Gaza border area. Drawing on his extensive research and personal experiences, Dr. Pauker will provide a comprehensive look at how these communities have evolved and how they are coping in the aftermath of October 7th.

This event aims to connect people to Israel during this challenging time and to present a speaker with a profound and wide-ranging perspective. There will be a Q&A session at the end of the program, allowing for further engagement and discussion.

The Zoom call is scheduled for 8:00 PM AEST (6:00 PM AWST, 10:00 PM NZST) on June 23. To participate, please register using the link below:
