The Association of Environmental Justice in Israel (AEJI) was established in 2009 and is independent body, aimed to focusing on the inter-connectedness of society, environment and the decision-making framework in Israel to produce policy recommendations that are real and acceptable while promoting the strengthening of democracy, equality and environmental justice values. It also aims to promote a

ctive deliberated civic participation especially of minorities and residents of the periphery. Initiating of researches on environmental justice and climate justice core issues, including climate policy, resilient communities, methodology of inequality indexes. Development of policy tools, based on data base and research analysis, nnovatiotive social approach that aimed to promote a policy based on the values of democracy, equality and environmental justice. Increasing civic participation in matters of environmental & climate justice and decision-making processes regarding environment and society, as well as empowering civil society especially among vulnerable groups such as minorities and residents of the periphery. Working to establish on cross-border collaboration, and regional scale cooperation and to advance shared projects on Mediterranean region, to reduce gaps on South-North and among rural peripheral communities in Mediterranean region, part of regional sustainability agenda and Climate resilience.

Our Story

The Association of Environmental Justice in Israel (AEJI) is a non-partisan, independent body aimed to research and resources oriented center, set up in 2009. The center focuses on the inter-connectedness of society, environment and the decision-making framework in Israel, in order to produce policy recommendations that are real and acceptable while promoting the strengthening of democracy, open governance, equality and environmental justice values.

It also aims to advance active deliberated civic participation especially of minorities and residents of the periphery. AEJI’ work is aimed as well to Cross-border and Mediterranean collaborations aimed to reduce gaps on regional scale and targeting regional sustainability.

AEJI’ activities are conducted in four main fields:

A. Initiating of researches and working papers on environmental justice core issues, including climate justice policy, resilient communities, methodology of inequality indexes and participatory models. In frame of the researches we create 'Data Base' to be used by researchers, policy advisors and policy makers.
