Tomorrow is World Mental Health Day! 💙🧠

Mental health matters to all of us, and at Beit Issie Shapiro, we’re working to make sure people with disabilities have access to the care and support that works for them.

We’re especially proud to have opened Israel’s first National Mental Health Center for People with Disabilities! And last year, we took another exciting step by launching the country’s first clinical psychology residency program specializing in disabilities.

These are big steps toward making mental health care more accessible, and we’re so excited to see what’s ahead! 🧡

Celebrating Sukkot at Beit Issie! 🌿✨

As part of the holiday activities at our school, students visited their very own “Sukkah Decoration Stand.” They brought money from home, picked out a decoration they loved, paid for it themselves, and took it home to hang in their family’s sukkah. 💛

Along with plenty of other fun Sukkot activities, it was a chance to make choices, practice independence, and take part in the holiday in a meaningful way.

Sukkot is for everyone 💙🌿

That’s why we create games like Words for Sukkot, making the holiday fun, accessible, and easy to join in for kids of all abilities.

Kids can learn Sukkot words like Sukkah and Etrog, decorate their own virtual Sukkah, and learn about the holiday through play and accessible technology.

Because every kid deserves to be part of the fun!

We were honored to discuss Tech for Heroes and our campaign to support the initiative this week on KAN - Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation.

Our Chief Partnerships Officer, Michael Lawrence, spoke with KAN English reporter Naomi Segal about Tech for Heroes, an initiative launched two months after October 7 together with JDC and Restart ריסטארט to support wounded veterans as they rebuild their daily lives.

Since launching, Tech for Heroes has supported 700+ wounded veterans, working with each person to find practical, personalized solutions tailored to their individual needs. From communication and education to work and everyday life, the goal is to help veterans regain independence and confidence.

We are grateful to KAN and Naomi Segal for highlighting this important initiative and helping us raise awareness of our campaign.

What a way to end the year!

After more than 10 years of advocacy, Beit Issie Shapiro helped achieve an important change for children in special education and their families.

Until now, children who stayed for extended-hours after-care often lost their free ride home, leaving families to manage pickup themselves.

Now, eligible children can stay for the full program and still take their transportation home afterward.

It may sound like a small change, but for families it means more access, more flexibility, and less stress.

This is part of Beit Issie Shapiro’s ongoing policy work to remove barriers and improve everyday life for people with disabilities and their families across Israel.

We’re proud to have helped make this happen together with ILAN - Israel Association for People with Disabilities , the Coalition of Parents of Children with Special Needs, and Herzog Fox & Neeman Law Firm.

A great reminder of what long-term advocacy can achieve.
