Oleg's journey is a remarkable one. Years ago, he worked as a missile engineer. Today, he volunteers at Yad Sarah, refilling oxygen concentrators that help people breathe, heal, and live with dignity.

Sometimes a letter says it all.

At the conclusion of a recent Yad LaTomech support group, participants presented their facilitator, Shuli, with a heartfelt letter expressing what the program has meant to them.

They wrote about being seen, being heard, and finding strength in the company of others who understand the challenges, responsibilities, and loneliness that can accompany caring for a loved one with a prolonged illness or neurodegenerative disease.

Most of all, they wrote one simple message: thank you.

Through support groups, counseling, workshops, and practical resources, Yad LaTomech helps family caregivers know they are not alone.

Kindness knows no borders! 🌍

While visiting Israel in 2020, Elliot Sloyer discovered Yad Sarah: the world's largest volunteer-led homecare organization. Inspired by our mission, he started Wheel It Forward in his local region.

Just like the Yad Sarah model, Wheel It Forward acts as a "lending library" for durable medical equipment. From wheelchairs to walkers, they are ensuring that specialized care is accessible to everyone in the community.

Thirty years after making aliyah, Ephraim and Miriam had long been reliant on Yad Sarah for medical equipment. But last summer, they experienced something even deeper.

When Ephraim mother-in-law, Elaine, came to Israel for major surgery that included a long hospital recovery, Yad Sarah was there every step of the way: from wheelchairs and bed rails to the Hospitality Suites near Sha’arei Tzedek Medical Center.

May marks Jewish Heritage Month, a time to reflect not only on collective history, but on the individual lives that carry it forward.

At Yad Sarah, the Life Stories Project is doing just that: preserving personal memory as living heritage.

The program pairs seniors with trained, dedicated volunteers who visit them at home over the course of about ten sessions. In those conversations, stories unfold of childhoods, journeys, challenges, faith, family, and resilience. What begins as a simple conversation becomes something far greater: a carefully documented narrative of a life fully lived.

In honoring these stories, we honor the memory, and the enduring value of every human life.
