World Jewish Restitution Organization - WJRO The WJRO works toward the restitution of private property and Jewish communal property seized during the Holocaust.

In 1989, with the collapse of the Communist regimes in the countries of Eastern Europe and the advent to power of governments committed to the democratic process and to a market economy, many of which became parties to international human rights conventions, the foundation was laid to attack the problem of the restoration of Jewish property, and to remind these governments and world public opinion that the time has arrived to redress the enormous material wrongs caused to European Jewry during the Holocaust. At the beginning of 1993, the leading world Jewish organizations decided to establish the World Jewish Restitution Organization (WJRO). Original member organizations:

On this day 80 years ago, October 1, 1946, the International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg delivered its verdicts against leading N**i officials for crimes committed during the N**i regime.

The historic trial brought together judges and prosecutors from the United States, Great Britain, the Soviet Union, and France to hold N**i leaders accountable for crimes against peace, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. Twelve defendants were sentenced to death, including Joachim von Ribbentrop, Hans Frank, Alfred Rosenberg, and Julius Streicher. Three others received life sentences.

The Nuremberg Trials marked a landmark moment in international justice, establishing that those responsible for atrocities could be held personally accountable for their crimes.

Eighty years later, the pursuit of justice and accountability for the crimes of the Holocaust remains as important as ever.

היום לפני 80 שנה, ב-1 באוקטובר 1946, פסק בית הדין הצבאי הבינלאומי בנירנברג את גזרי הדין נגד בכירים בהנהגה הנאצית בגין פשעים שבוצעו במהלך המשטר הנאצי.
במשפט ההיסטורי השתתפו שופטים ותובעים מארצות הברית, בריטניה, ברית המועצות וצרפת, כדי להטיל על המנהיגים הנאצים אחריות לפשעי מלחמה ופשעים נגד האנושות. שנים עשר נאשמים נידונו למוות, בהם יואכים פון ריבנטרופ, הנס פרנק, אלפרד רוזנברג ויוליוס שטרייכר. שלושה נאשמים נוספים נידונו למאסר עולם.
משפטי נירנברג היוו נקודת מפנה בצדק הבינלאומי, וביססו את העיקרון לפיו האחראים למעשי זוועה יכולים לשאת באחריות פלילית אישית על פשעיהם.

85 years ago today, the N**is and their collaborators murdered nearly 34,000 Jewish men, women, and children at Babi Yar, a ravine on the outskirts of Kyiv, Ukraine. The massacre, carried out over September 29–30, 1941, was one of the largest mass shootings of the Holocaust and marked a horrific escalation in the N**is’ campaign to annihilate Europe’s Jews.

Sukkot commemorates the 40 years the Jewish people journeyed through the desert after their liberation from slavery in Egypt. It is a holiday of gratitude for the blessings of food, shelter, and community—things that were tragically taken from so many Jews during the Holocaust.
This Sukkot, help us bring hope to Holocaust survivors and their families by sharing our message of justice for those seeking compensation or the return of property wrongfully taken during the Holocaust and its aftermath.

חג הסוכות מציין את 40 השנים שבהן נדד העם היהודי במדבר לאחר יציאתם מעבדות במצרים. זהו חג של הכרת תודה על הברכות שבמזון, במחסה ובקהילה — דברים שנשללו באופן טרגי מרבים כל כך מיהודי אירופה במהלך השואה.

Continuing WJRO’s meetings on the sidelines of , WJRO representatives joined other Jewish organizations for meetings with Poland’s President Karol Nawrocki (,), Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys ( ), Bulgaria’s President Iliana Iotova (), and Hungary’s President András Baka and Foreign Minister Anita Orban (, ).
The discussions continued our focus on Holocaust remembrance, restitution, and justice.
