Am vergangenen Wochenende haben wir das Jubiläum zum 30-jährigen Bestehen des W***y-Brandt-Centers begangen.
Das W***y-Brandt-Center ist ein Ort, an dem eine friedliche Lösung im Nahen Osten besprochen und organisiert werden soll. Auch in diesen schwierigen Zeiten und trotz aller Herausforderungen nutzen wir das Jubiläum, um in die Zukunft zu blicken und den Dialog durch Begegnung zu stärken.
Viele unserer Partner*innen aus dem WBC und Gäste aus Politik und Zivilgesellschaft waren vor Ort, um einen Raum für Austausch zu schaffen und zu nutzen. Wir danken allen, die mit uns gefeiert haben, die auf dem Podium gesprochen haben und die den Frieden mit uns gemeinsam organisieren wollen. Auf viele weitere Jahre W***y-Brandt-Center!

Last weekend we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the W***y Brandt Center.
The W***y Brandt Center is a place where we want to discuss and organize a peaceful solution in the Middle East. Even in these difficult times and despite all the challenges, this anniversary is a chance to look towards the future and strengthen dialogue through encounter.
Many of our partners from the WBC, guests in politics and from society seized the opportunity of this space for exchange and dialogue. We thank everyone who celebrated with us, who spoke on the panel, and who works with us towards organizing peace. Here’s to many more years of W***y Brandt Center!

In this deeply personal documentary, filmmaker Simonka de Jong explores a complex question: could she ever kill? Driven by a personal aversion to violence, de Jong travels through Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories to speak with former soldiers, activists, and other people whose lives are shaped by violence.

Following the film screening in English, we will host an open conversation in Hebrew with Nadav Weiman, CEO of Breaking the Silence, to discuss the film, its themes and the lessons we can take from it.

During this weekend’s Federal Congress of Jusos in der SPD, the WBC was invited to discuss together with Hadas Zangy, Chairwoman of Young Democrats Israel, the importance of peace in the region. Hadas highlighted: “We [Young Democrats] stand firmly for a two-state solution. We must clearly address Israel’s need for security after October 7th, and at the same time acknowledge the deep suffering Palestinians have faced in these past years. Ultimately, we all need a Palestinian state where the terrorist organization Hamas can’t dictate the future of the region.”

Hadas also emphasized the role and need for international solidarity, that is necessary to achieve such peace: “A conflict is not a football game, and we are not asking anyone to pick a team. Surely, building friendships strengthens us, but becoming partners in the struggle for peace helps us even more.“
