What can Hasidic stories and teachings offer us today—and what happens when we bring them into conversation with contemporary psychoanalytic thought?

Naharayim, a new interdisciplinary learning program from the Schechter Institute, invites Jewish therapists, clergy, chaplains, social workers, educators, and other helping professionals to explore these questions together.

Drawing on Hasidic masters alongside thinkers such as Carl Jung, Wilfred Bion, and Donald Winnicott, Naharayim explores inner life, creativity, relationships, intuition, and transformation, encountering Hasidic teachings not simply as historical sources, but as living psychological and spiritual resources for our lives today.

Rabbi Prof. David Golinkin penned this article for the LA (southern California) Jewish Journal: On Intermarriage and the Conservative Movement.

Something for all of us to think about during Shabbat.

While I understand and sympathize with the issues confronting Conservative rabbis and synagogues in the United States concerning intermarriage, allowing Conservative rabbis to officiate at intermarriages will not solve that problem.

And after 14 fun-filled days comes the end of Camp Ramah Yahad Ukraine 2026.

This summer we had the pleasure of welcoming 165 campers and 49 staffers from all over Ukraine:
- Zaporizhia
- Lvov
- Dniepro
- ⁠ Kharkiv
- ⁠ Kyiv
- Chernivtsi
- Odessa
- Bila Tserkva
- Khust

Last night they all returned home. Many to homes which have become a refuge from their original towns or cities. This is what Ukraine has become since the beginning of this part of the war in February 2022. Over four years ago.

We hope to see all of them next year in August 2027 for the 35th year of camp.

The Camp Ramah Yahad Ukraine experience continues....

Activities are 24-7 from early in the AM to late at night, our campers and staffers are enjoying being together, smiling and experiencing.

Art, prayer (tefilla) overlooking the forest, group time by the lake, dancing, and sports including the Maccabiah, are all part of the experience.

We thank each and every one of you for making the experience special, relaxing, and normal - something every child, youth and staff member requires.

In celebration of summer's end (and the end of vacation), Schechter put together a wonderful and festive summer day for children, parents and grandparents for faculty, workers and associated friends.

Children enjoyed themselves on inflatable water slides, personal water splashers, a can overflowing with water and soap with soaked ropes to create bubbles in the air, as well as coloured markers and paper for drawing during 'down time.'

Everyone enjoyed the fresh fruit 🍇, ice cooled juice, cold water 💧, iced coffee, ice pops.
For lunch, all celebrated freshly baked pizza 🍕 and creative salads 🥗 provided by the staff of the new cafe "Patisserie Schechter"

Lastly, some watched while others fell asleep to an animated movie in our library.

All in all, a wonderful day was had by all!!😄
