MedEx NJ just made history. 🇺🇸🩺 🇮🇱

350 medical professionals from across North America showed up - the largest MedEx conference ever. About half were physicians, with a big jump in specialists this year. Top specialties included internal medicine, pediatrics, anesthesiology, family medicine, cardiology, neurology, and surgery - plus psychology, psychiatry, nursing, dentistry, social work, speech therapy, and more.

132+ attendees submitted applications to convert their medical licenses through the Ministry of Health Israel - meaning a lot of doctors are serious about making Aliyah very soon.

And for the first time ever, the YAEL Hebrew proficiency exam was offered on-site in partnership with the National Institute for Testing & Evaluation (NITE). Starting in 2027, Israel's Ministry of Health may require doctors to demonstrate intermediate Hebrew proficiency as part of the licensing process and the YAEL exam is one recognized way to meet that standard.

“Israel is my forever home...

So yes it’s hard but on the other hand it’s very meaningful...

I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world”

"I get so many questions about what it was like to make Aliyah, transfer my license, and become a speech therapist in Israel...

[At MedEx], they walked me through the entire process of converting my license I was able to bring all of my documents to one place get them notarized and submit them, sign up for my licensing exam. It was really convenient"

🕯️MAY HIS MEMORY BE A BLESSING | ברוך דיין האמת

Corporal Benjamin Vais, originally from Canada, was a Lone Soldier in the Givati Brigade. Tragically, he passed away at the age of 19.

He will be remembered as determined, positive, funny, and a loyal friend - may his memory be a blessing.

The entire Nefesh B’Nefesh-FIDF Lone Soldiers Program team extends deep condolences to the Vais family. We stand among the mourners of Zion and wish comfort for Ben's family and all of Am Yisrael. Z”L

"I flew in for the day from Florida to New Jersey to attend MedEx, where I had the opportunity to submit all my paperwork directly to Mila, the head of nursing in Israel, and had everything notarized on the spot. I also met the head of Terem's nursing department, who was instrumental in helping me navigate a slight hurdle in my paperwork. MedEx is quite literally a one-stop shop to expedite the process and network with employers throughout Israel - a crucial starting point that shouldn't be missed, even if you aren't sure what you want to do when you arrive.

When I landed in Israel, I still had to pass two exams: the Israeli nursing boards and a Hebrew proficiency exam. I've been in Ulpan all year, and Baruch Hashem, I passed the nursing exam in January and the Hebrew exam in May. I just received my permanent nursing license, made a few connections at MedEx that I'm sure will be of great help, and plan to start looking for work soon. Throughout this process I made incredible friends, most of whom I only met after making Aliyah, who took the exams right alongside me. I truly could not have done it without them.

Making Aliyah has always been a dream of mine. I was born and raised in the United States, but grew up with an Israeli father who was an IDF tank commander and proud Israeli - a love of Israel was instilled in me from the beginning, and I fell even more in love on my first trip at 12 years old. I'm forever grateful that my husband and four beautiful children were just as excited to make that dream a reality. We made Aliyah from Boca Raton, Florida last year and now call Beit Shemesh home.

If there's one thing I've learned from this experience, it's to always remain positive. Making Aliyah isn't easy, and navigating Israeli systems can be a challenge, but it is beyond worth it. Keep your head up, breathe deeply, and choose to focus on all the blessings that surround you.

There is so much meaning and depth to living here."
