Three years later, its impact continues to unfold in ways that are visible and invisible. In grief and trauma.
In marriages and families.
In parents and children.
In relationships changed by loss, fear, prolonged separation, reserve duty, and experiences that can take months or even years to process.
At The Eden Center, we see how trauma can enter the most intimate parts of our lives: our relationships, our bodies, our sense of safety, and our ability to connect with the people closest to us.
Today, we remember those we lost and hold close those who continue to carry the impact of that day and everything that has followed.

The allegations that have resurfaced around Cornell have brought conversations about sexual assault, alcohol and consent back into public view.
The case itself is still under investigation. But the conversation about consent cannot begin and end with a headline.
We need to teach what consent actually looks like. And at The Eden Center, we do.
Consent is not simply the absence of “no.” It requires choice, communication and the freedom to change your mind. And it doesn’t stop mattering when someone gets married.
Marriage is not automatic consent.
Being married does not give one person unlimited access to the other’s body. Every person has the right to boundaries, bodily autonomy and safety within an intimate relationship.
That is why consent is part of what we teach across The Eden Center’s training programs, and why it is especially important in our trauma-informed training for Kallah teachers working with women who have experienced sexual abuse.
We prepare educators to talk about consent not only as a concept, but as an essential part of healthy intimacy and marriage, and to recognize that for survivors, these conversations can carry additional complexity.
Because conversations about consent should not only happen after someone has been harmed.
They belong in the education we give before intimacy and throughout our relationships.

We usually think of Sukkot in terms of the sukkah, lulav and etrog. But some of the most joyful moments of Sukkot in the time of the Temple were centered around something else entirely: water.

Nisuch Hamayim and Simchat Beit Hashoeva celebrated something essential to life, but completely beyond human control.

So what does water have to do with the joy of Sukkot? And what can it teach us about vulnerability, renewal, and even mikveh?
