As part of our ongoing work in hospitals across Israel, we returned to the Rehab Department at Sheba Medical Center for our fifth creative workshop with the wonderful Kinneret, offering another much-needed moment of breath, relief, and comfort for our wounded heroes and their families.

For Kinneret, every single workshop like this is a powerful full-circle moment.

In 2002, Kinneret was critically injured in a horrific terror attack at the "My Coffee Shop" café in central Tel Aviv. Fighting for her life with burns covering 70% of her body, she endured a long and grueling rehabilitation. Back in those dark days, nearly 25 years ago, Nava Formansky, a OneFamily coordinator (who still accompanies wounded heroes and their families in hospitals today) stepped into Kinneret and her family’s lives to wrap them in love and continuous support.

Today, Kinneret walks those same hospital hallways alongside Nava, not as a patient, but as a beacon of strength and inspiration.

We are deeply grateful for the privilege to embrace these precious families, and thankful for this incredible circle of people who bring light right into the heart of pain and hardship.

Just a small glimpse into something the heart is still taking in... 🤍

Another therapeutic retreat, one of dozens OneFamily organize each year for our "Sayeret" - has come to a deeply meaningful and successful close.

38 families, 102 adults, 88 children, and 26 babies coming together for days of connection, belonging, and shared strength.

A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Rabia for being there with the exact words we needed to hear to recharge and find new strength.

A bereaved mother from Israel, and young adults from Brazil, the UK, and all corners of the globe. No, it's not the setup for a joke! It's just another meaningful day at OneFamily!

They landed in Israel as part of Taglit: young men and women looking for roots, exploring history, and searching for a deeper connection to their Jewish identity.

Today, that zehut took on real faces, names, and stories.

They sat down with Cheryl Mandel.
Cheryl made Aliyah from Canada, and faced the unimaginable in 2003, when her son, Lt. Daniel Mandel Hy"d, fell in battle in Shechem (Nablus) while leading his unit on a mission to capture wanted terrorists. He was 24 years old.

Out of the deepest fracture and pain, Cheryl chose life, purpose, and memorialization.

In an emotional and candid conversation, she shared memories of Daniel, spoke about her unceasing journey of coping over the years, and touched on her profound, unbreakable bond with us at OneFamily.

Watching the language gaps and geographic distance dissolve in an instant was a powerful reminder of the strength of a human encounter — of what happens when hearts connect.

“Each of us comes with our own story and the weight of the pain we carry. I lost my mother and two sisters in a terror attack, and living with that is an overwhelming struggle. That’s why this day was so much more than just another trip for us. It gave us a moment to breathe, let go, laugh, be together, and simply enjoy. We connected not necessarily through words, but through being outdoors and sharing the experience itself. We left with huge smiles, unforgettable memories, and a heart full of gratitude.”

These heartfelt words were shared with Maariv by Keren Dee, reflecting on a OneFamily trip for bereaved siblings and orphans. Keren lost her mother, Lucy, and her sisters, Maia and Rina z”l, in the Jordan Valley shooting attack.

Dearest Keren, we are wrapping you and your entire family in a warm embrace during this deeply moving week as your sister stands under the chuppah.
OneFamily wishes the newlyweds a huge Mazal Tov, strength, and a lifetime filled with light.

Last week, we had the privilege of celebrating the wedding of Ben Molcho, from Netiv HaAsara.

Standing beside him under the chuppah were his two brothers - three brothers who lost their parents on October 7.

Surrounding them were friends, fellow kibbutz members, and members of the community’s security team who fought bravely that day to protect their home.

And in the midst of unimaginable loss and a reality forever changed, Ben and Mia chose to build a home of their own.

A new home, built from love, from strength, and from the belief that life can still move forward.

Because even after all that has been lost, there is still room for love. For joy. For new beginnings.

We wish Ben and Mia a lifetime of love, togetherness, and light. 🤍

Their chuppah is a victory for all of us. It’s a beautiful reminder of our resilience and the living proof that no matter what, Am Yisrael Chai.

“Sending your child to camp alongside other bereaved siblings- kids facing a reality no child should ever have to know - is just so surreal. Thank you for creating such a safe, joyful, and empowering space for them.”

OneFamily delegation has officially returned home from Canada!

These were the words of just one mother out of the dozens of parents who welcomed their children back this past weekend. Dozens of teens, orphans and bereaved siblings traveled halfway across the world to find something that has been incredibly hard to come by this past year: a breath of fresh air, and the chance to simply be kids again.

The journey kicked off with a massive, warm welcome from our friends in Canada, before heading straight into the heart of the experience: Camp Timberlane. Far away from the headlines and the heavy weight of their daily realities, they dove into weeks of adrenaline, breathtaking nature, and non-stop fun.

But the real magic happened in the moments in between.

It happened when they found a safe haven among their peers - friends who get it with just a single glance.
No explanations needed.

It happened during 'Chapel': truly a night to remember. Every single camper and staff member bravely chose to share their story of loss, pain, and resilience, inspiring the hundreds of people in attendance. They stood together, holding space for their grief, and praying that the memories of their loved ones will forever be a blessing.

And it happened in the small moments of personal triumph: A girl who hadn't smiled since losing her brother in combat, suddenly laughing out loud. A boy who had been completely silent since October 7th, finally feeling safe enough to open up and share his story.

Watching the light return to their eyes and seeing them rebuild their inner strength - that is our greatest reward.

It’s the ultimate victory for all of us, and for all of Am Yisrael.

As we approach the 20th anniversary of this incredible program, we want to express our deepest gratitude. Thank you to the incredible OneFamily team and to all the dedicated counselors—absolute angels who didn't rest for a single moment. Thank you to our partners, donors, and the Canadian community who opened their hearts and doors.

And above all, thank you to the parents, for trusting us with what is most precious to you.

After 1,000 days of war, Israel’s children are carrying far more than backpacks into summer vacation 🇮🇱💔

They are carrying grief. Anxiety. Memories no child should ever have to hold. And for hundreds of bereaved children, they are carrying the pain of losing a parent, sibling, or another immediate family member to terrorism or war.

Fox News highlighted OneFamily’s annual summer camp where more than 400 bereaved children will come together this week. At camp, they swim, play, laugh, and sing. They also sit in therapeutic dialogue circles, share memories of the loved ones they lost, and meet other children who understand their pain without needing any explanation.

As OneFamily’s founding director Chantal Belzberg told Fox News: “We bring them together so they meet children who truly understand them. They realize they are not alone and can build a community where they don't feel isolated.”
