Yesterday, our team had the opportunity to visit Herzog Medical Center’s historical exhibition, now on display at Safra Square, home of Jerusalem’s City Hall, in celebration of Herzog’s 130th anniversary.
Standing together among the historic photographs, we found ourselves stepping back into the Jerusalem of another era — meeting, through these images, the people, places, and moments that have shaped Herzog’s story.
Creating this exhibition felt a little like opening a very large family album. Searching through our archives was fascinating, with each photograph offering another glimpse into the past — the clothing, the rooms, the gardens, the buildings, and, most importantly, the people.
There is something especially meaningful about seeing these photographs leave our archives and take their place in the heart of Jerusalem. As people pass through Safra Square, they stop, look, and discover not only a piece of Herzog’s history, but a piece of Jerusalem’s history as well.
At this time of the Jewish new year, when we naturally find ourselves reflecting on the past while looking toward the future, that connection between where we have been, where we are today, and where we are going feels particularly meaningful.
Our sincere thanks to Michal Turgeman, spokesperson at Herzog Medical Center, and Hadas Avraham of the Jerusalem Municipality for her support and assistance throughout the process.
We are also deeply grateful to Hila Smoliansky, Director of Visual Arts in the Jerusalem Municipality’s Culture and Arts Division, for her guidance, enthusiasm, and support in helping us bring Herzog’s story to Safra Square.
And of course, we couldn’t leave without taking a photo of our own.
Who knows? Perhaps 100 years from now, our photo will find its way into a Herzog historical exhibition too. 😊
Shana Tova from all of us at Herzog Medical Center!
