This is Menachem, a father, PhD student studying human aging, an active reservist in the 55th Paratrooper Brigade of the 98th Division of the IDF, and the volunteer co-director of The Lone Soldier Empowerment Foundation.
Menachem has a family history in Israel stretching back 200 years, but was born in the United States and emigrated to Israel at the age of 18 to get a world class education in an Israeli university, with the personal goal of developing treatments to extend healthy human lifespan for all of humanity.
On his journey Menachem served as a lone soldier in the 35th Paratrooper Brigade of the IDF as a combat medic, commander, and drill instructor.
Since October 7th Menachem has done more than a year of cumulative reserves as a combat medic starting in Kfar Aza on Oct. 7th, and then in Gaza, Lebanon, the defensive battle for Metula and more.
Menachem, as is the case for most IDF soldiers, is a western liberal who believes in equal rights to peace, life, liberty, and opportunity for all people interested in supporting and advocating the same for their fellow man.
This existential war that Menachem is fighting for the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness of his family and the rest of Israeli and Western society, have come at a direct cost to his scientific output. His Master's thesis was written in a bomb shelter in Metula while defending the Northern Israeli town from invasion by Hezbollah or Iranian proxies operating out of Syria.
Thousands of highly educated and liberal Israeli reservists who would otherwise be contributing to the progress of Israeli and Western society have taken up arms instead to defend their democracy, leading to untold loss of progress and a global slowdown of scientific growth.
Menachem is currently serving in his 5th round of 3 month long reserve duty since Oct. 7th 2023, and we wish him the success in his PhD and onwards.
We welcome you to celebrate and show him some more support!
