From Henrietta Szold in 1902, the first woman to study at JTS (but forbidden to seek ordination), to Rabbi Amy Eilberg breaking the glass ceiling in 1985, to women leading our most prestigious institutions today: this journey in Conservative Judaism wasn't given, it was earned. Step by courageous step, women transformed Jewish life from the margins to the center. Today, we don't just participate-we lead, shape, and reimagine Judaism for the future.

Jewish pluralism requires courage.
This week, our Executive Director was taken in for police questioning during a Women of the Wall prayer service. Here is her story.

This December, Marom Olami and Marom Brazil took another step in reimagining what global Jewish engagement can look like. Together with Jornada Social (Comunidade Shalom, São Paulo), 19 young adults from Brazil joined a partnership-based delegation with Marom Uganda in Eastern Uganda, with the support of Masorti Olami.
This was not a mission “to help,” but a process of showing up, listening, and sharing responsibility. The work was shaped by local leadership and community-defined priorities, grounded in trust, mutual learning, and a commitment that continues beyond the delegation itself.
For Marom, this is how we build a movement:
through cross-border relationships, youth-led action, and a model of engagement rooted in equality, accountability, and long-term partnership.
We are proud of our partners at Comunidade Shalom, Jornada Social, Masorti Olami. and to the Abayudaya leaders and communities who shape this work every day.

Just before the end of 2025, sixteen Marom leaders from across the globe gathered in Israel for the Global Marom Leadership Seminar. Participants from 11 countries came together and over five intensive and meaningful days, we experienced the power of the Marom community at its best: uplifting, thoughtful, and deeply connected. We learned and prayed together, reflected together on the future of Global Marom, and explored what Marom means in each participant’s local context and community.

Through encounters in Jerusalem, Arad, and the Gaza Envelope, the seminar offered a deeply meaningful exploration of Zionism in 2025, Jewish peoplehood, and mutual responsibility. Together, we built community, shared stories, and laid foundations for Marom’s future - finishing the seminar feeling connected, empowered, and committed to shaping what comes next.

Warm congratulations to Rabbi Doron on beginning his new role as Executive Director of the Masorti Movement.
Rabbi Doron led Marom as its chairperson for many years with wisdom, courage, and deep commitment, and was a central figure in shaping its vision, values, and spirit. His leadership left a lasting imprint on the organisation and on so many people who had the privilege to work alongside him.
He is a powerful model of a Masorti Judaism that is deeply rooted and at the same time forward-looking, a Judaism that engages with the world honestly, thoughtfully, and with responsibility.
We wish Rabbi Doron and the Masorti Movement in Israel the merit of continuing “לְהַגְדִּיל תּוֹרָה וּלְהַאְדִּירָה” , “to magnify and glorify Torah” for the benefit of the entire Am Israel.

After more than a decade of dedicated leadership, we are saying goodbye to Roee Peled, who is concluding his position as Director of Marom.
Throughout his years at Marom, Roee worked tirelessly to advance Marom’s mission and expand its reach. Under his leadership, Marom grew significantly, bringing an inclusive, egalitarian, and Masorti Jewish experience to tens of thousands of young adults around the world.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Roee for the love, commitment, and sense of purpose he brought to Marom, and we wish him great success in all his future endeavors.

We are delighted to welcome Tammy Gottlieb, the incoming Director, who brings extensive experience and a deep familiarity with the Masorti-Conservative Movement in Israel and abroad.
We wish Tammy much success in her new role as she leads Marom toward continued growth and meaningful impact.
