Thanks to you, we were able to pay salaries right before the holiday and cover some of our payments to suppliers.

Medications and medical supplies are running out — and not all suppliers are willing to keep waiting for payment. Completely justified on their part.

The electrical system upgrade forced upon us, following an external audit and fire department inspection, is stuck mid-process and halted until we complete payment to the contractor.

Right now, with weather forecasts predicting a harsh winter starting as early as next week, the heating systems in the shelter facilities and puppy yards are disconnected.
In a Jerusalem winter, this isn't a luxury — it's a matter of life and death.
Without the remaining 70%, alongside the many steps we are taking in parallel, we are in real danger.

Close your eyes and imagine the streets of Jerusalem five years from now, with 1,227,600 additional cats roaming the city—after an equal number have already perished on its streets.

1,227,600 cats.

This isn't a typo, nor is it a dramatic slogan. It is the precise estimated number of kittens that will be born to face a life of struggle on the streets of Jerusalem within just 5 years—if our spay and neuter operations were to stop for even a single year.

Every year, the Jerusalem Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA) spays approximately 600 female cats and neuters 400 male cats.

• Without Spaying: A single un-spayed female cat and her surviving offspring multiply exponentially into hundreds of thousands within a few short years.
• The Reality on the Streets: The vast majority of these kittens will never find a home. Instead, they face disease, traffic accidents, starvation, and freezing Jerusalem winters.
• Prevention Is Compassion: Spaying and neutering isn't just a demographic solution—it is the single most effective way to prevent suffering before it begins.

the past year has "hit" us again and again.

The annual government support was canceled as if it never existed, many foundations have significantly reduced their support compared to previous years, the dollar exchange rate that significantly affected the value of donations in foreign currency, the general cost of living increased the high maintenance costs of our shelter, all this put us on the eve of the NEW YEAR, facing a broken trough.

Our society is strong, and I am sure that we will know how to get out of this situation and progress towards a better future and towards a new shelter for the animals.

But now, we are desperate for your help!

Without immediate fundraising of approximately 150,000 shekels, we may reach a point where suppliers will stop delivering us food, medicine and equipment that are so essential to our daily functioning.

*Dr. Leen Yaghmour,* veterinarian with a lifelong passion for animals. Knew she wanted to become a veterinarian since the fifth grade, and succeeded to make her childhood dream into reality.

Graduated from An-Najah National University veterinary school in 2023 and completed six months of training at a private veterinary clinic.
Since 2024, Leen has been working at the JSPCA, where she had the opportunity to learn from and work alongside many experienced veterinarians who have helped develop her clinical skills and build experience.

Dr. Leen's work includes examining and diagnosing dogs and cats, as well as performing routine spay and neuter surgeries and dental procedures
She's passionate about providing compassionate care and continuously learning to become a better veterinarian.

It seems that genius has wonderful healing properties, otherwise it is simply impossible to understand how sweet Genius is still with us.

Genius arrived at our clinic on Thursday afternoon with a complaint of breathing difficulties for the past three days.

Due to his condition, the staff rushed to perform comprehensive tests including blood tests, X-rays, and ultrasound, alongside questioning the owners. The diagnosis indicated beyond a shadow of a doubt that the cat was injured by a significant blow or fall. It then turned out that the cat tried to go out through a door exactly as it was being shut, and the door closed on him.

Genius arrived with a collapsed left lung, a right lung filled with blood with almost no room for air, blood in the chest cavity that was drained, and a diaphragmatic hernia.

After two days in an oxygen cage and medical treatment, his condition has improved. He has an almost endless appetite, and next week, after full stabilization, he will be able to undergo a surgical procedure to repair the diaphragmatic hernia, and hopefully find the right home for him quickly.

And that home?
