The ecological-community farm at Gan-Yavne is built with a deep belief in the ability of people to create a change in the reality of their lives. The farm serves as an urban center for nurturing a lifestyle of environmental responsibility, social partnership, business and social entrepreneurship, community connections and deepening the connection between people and the landscape of their homeland.
The farm was planned, established and operated in a community process that fosters a partnership between the members of the Yavne House boarding school and residents of Gan Yavne. The farm was built on 6 dunams of barren land and includes: forest of edible trees, vegetable gardens and flowerbeds of herbs and herbs, an ecological water pool and a recycling and compost center. Educational benefit for the entire community.
החווה האקולוגית-קהילתית בבית אפל שבגן יבנה הוקמה מתוך אמונה עמוקה ביכולת של בני אדם ליצור שינוי במציאות חייהם. המטרה שלנו היא לתת לכל באי החווה את הכלים לברוא את העולם ששווה להם לחיות בתוכו. החווה מהווה מרכז עירוני לטיפוח אורח חיים של אחריות סביבתית, שותפות חברתית, יזמות עסקית-חברתית, חיבורים קהילתיים והעמקת הקשר בין אנשים לבין תבנית נוף מולדתם. החוה תוכננה, הוקמה ומתופעלת בתהליך קהילתי המטפח שותפות בין חניכי וצוות פנימיית בית אפל לבין תושבי גן יבנה.
החווה משתרעת על שטח בן כ-6 דונם וכוללת: יער עצי מאכל, גינות ירק וערוגות צמחי תבלין וצמחי מרפא, בריכת מים אקולוגית ומרכז מיחזור וקומפוסט.כמו כן קיימים בה רחבת כינוסים לאירועים קהילתיים, מתחמי בילוי ופנאי למשפחות בבניה אקולוגית ומתחמי יזמות כלכלית-חברתית-חינוכית לטובת כלל הקהילה.
