Happy birthday to the best Shinshinit in Eilat ! This year wouldn’t be this the same without all the laughter and excitement you bring to the commune and to the City of Eilat!

SEMINAR DAY 2: We started out the day at a local Hummus restaurant called “Hummus Said” which has been said to be the best Hummus in Israel!

After the AMAZING breakfast, we met with our tour guide for the day - Roni Peled, who taught us about the history of Akko. We stood on the walls that defended Akko from Napoleons attempts to conquer the city, then we made our way to “The Knight Hall”. The Knight Hall is a historical city from the Crusaders period under the ground!

For lunch we stopped to have a pizza picnic by the Akko ports before continuing to the synagogue of Moshe Chaim Lizzatto. We finished the tour at a traditional Turkish bathhouse and visiting the ports that look out to Haifa.

We finished the day with a sushi dinner to bring in Leora’s birthday!

SEMINAR DAY 1: Today we started our first seminar of the year by flying from Eilat to Tel Aviv where we spent the day! Our first activity was a tour of the Nave Sheanan neighborhood. Our guide, has lived in this community for the past four years. Nave Sheanan is made up mostly of refugees from Sudan and Aritrea, giving it a unique culture and story. Orel taught us about the struggles and difficulties for not Jewish refugees in Israel. For dinner we went to an amazing Ethiopian restaurant, Balinjera, where we enjoyed the delicious, authentic foods and got to know the owner, Fanta, who comes from Ethiopia. Finally we set off on a two hour bus ride to Aco where we will be settling in for the night.

The Big Bang Event 27.12.2023

It all started with an idea, to gather around all Year of Service in Eilat (shinshinim and Beni sherot) that are here (as planned and evacuated), to make a community and say THANK YOU for everything that they have done. As planning progressed it became a big event in collaboration with the Reshet Hamatnasim (Israel Association of Community Centers) of Eilat - The Big Bang Event created.

We had the honor of having the mayor of Eilat - Eli Lankri come to speak with us. We had the opportunity to meet with different shinshinim and Beni Sherot, eat breakfast, doing some ice breakers games, making art project in the subject of “Achdot” (Togetherness).
Finishing with Israeli lunch - couscous and a concert of “U-Live” (a local band in Eilat).

We want to thank Yoav Yitzhak Halevi, Ofra Boaron from Reshet Hamatnasim of Eilat. Thanks to Shir, Shachar, Elinor and Noga - the office staff of the partnership Eilat-Eilot-Toronto and our AMAZING shinshinim for leading this Event!!!

Yesterday was the first candle lighting of Hannukah,
As part of the program we had a powerful activity for Hannukah with the light subject on point 🕯️
We finish with a ‘making your own Sufgania’ and lighting the candles.
