جمعية الشبان المسيحية – القدس تستعرض دورها المجتمعي وبرامجها خلال لقاء مع الشيخ

قام وفد من جمعية الشبان المسيحية – القدس بزيارة إلى السيد حسين الشيخ، نائب رئيس دولة فلسطين ونائب رئيس اللجنة التنفيذية لمنظمة التحرير الفلسطينية ونائب رئيس حركة التحرير الوطني الفلسطيني - فتح. وضم الوفد السكرتير العام للجمعية السيد بيتر ناصر، ومديرة مركز رام الله المجتمعي السيدة رانيا أبو حشيش، ومديرة مركز التدريب المهني في أريحا السيدة سماح النبر.

هدفت الزيارة إلى التعريف بعمل الجمعية ودورها المجتمعي والريادي، وتسليط الضوء على برامجها ومراكزها المختلفة، إلى جانب بحث واقع العمل المجتمعي والتحديات التي تواجه المؤسسات الفلسطينية في ظل الظروف الراهنة.

وخلال اللقاء، أطلع السكرتير العام للجمعية السيد بيتر ناصر سيادته على أبرز أعمال الجمعية وبرامجها ومجالات عملها، ودور مراكزها في خدمة المجتمعات المحلية وتعزيز فرص الشباب والأطفال والأسر، كما وضع سيادته في صورة الأوضاع الحالية والتحديات التي تواجه الجمعية وقطاعات العمل المجتمعي في فلسطين.

من جانبه، رحّب سيادته بالوفد، وأشاد بالدور الذي تقوم به الجمعية في خدمة المجتمع الفلسطيني، مؤكدًا أهمية استمرار المؤسسات المجتمعية في أداء رسالتها وتعزيز حضورها ودورها في ظل الظروف الراهنة.

East Jerusalem YMCA Highlights Its Community Role and Programs During Meeting with Hussein Al-Sheikh

A delegation from the East Jerusalem YMCA visited Mr. Hussein Al-Sheikh, Vice President of the State of Palestine, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), and Deputy Chairman of the Fatah Movement. The delegation included the YMCA Secretary General, Mr. Peter Nasir; Director of the Ramallah Community Center, Mrs. Rania Abu Hashish; and Director of the Vocational Training Center in Jericho, Mrs. Samah Al-Naber.

The visit aimed to introduce the YMCA’s community and pioneering role, highlight its various programs and centers, and discuss the current state of community work and the challenges facing Palestinian institutions under the prevailing circumstances.

During the meeting, YMCA Secretary General Mr. Peter Nasir briefed His Excellency on the YMCA’s key activities, programs, and areas of work, as well as the role of its centers in serving local communities and expanding opportunities for young people, children, and families. He also provided an overview of the current situation and the challenges facing the YMCA and the community sector in Palestine.

For his part, His Excellency welcomed the delegation and commended the role played by the YMCA in serving Palestinian society, emphasizing the importance of community institutions continuing to fulfill their mission and strengthening their presence and role under the current circumstances.

Camp Europe – So You Are Not Alone!

Day two at the camp brought together learning, creativity, connection, and reflection. It started with an energizing morning, followed by a presentation about the YMCA and an open discussion with the Chairperson of the Board, Ms. Maha Khoury and the Secretary General, Mr. Peter Nasser, where participants asked questions, shared their perspectives, and learned more about the organization and its impact.

From learning and discussion, the day moved into creativity and teamwork. Participants were divided into groups and challenged to create their own short videos, which were then presented and evaluated by a panel.

The energy continued with a Compliment Circle, giving each participant the chance to say something they appreciated about another camper — a simple activity that created moments of encouragement, appreciation, and connection.

As the day came to an end, participants gathered for an open conversation about their camp experience and its impact on them. They reflected on what they had learned, what they had gained, the people they had met, and the moments they would carry with them beyond the camp.

Adam Nassar, 15 years old, shared: “The camp may be ending, but what we shared here doesn’t have to end with it.”

Camp Europe – So You Are Not Alone!

The camp is not only about reflection and learning — it’s also about having fun, connecting, and creating memories together.

Participants took part in a fun Human Bingo game, getting to know each other through shared experiences and unexpected discoveries, followed by a creative Lazy Cake Competition that brought out plenty of teamwork, laughter, and friendly competition.

The first day came to an end with a BBQ gathering, giving everyone the chance to relax, share food, enjoy each other’s company, and create even more memories together.

Through these activities, participants continued building connections, stepping out of their comfort zones, and discovering that meaningful moments can start with something as simple as a game, a conversation, or a shared meal.

Tala Baidoun, 15 years old, shared: “Sometimes, all it takes is one shared moment to turn new faces into meaningful connections.”

Camp Europe – So You Are Not Alone!

Today, August 14, 2026, marks the beginning of Camp Hope, bringing together more than 50 young people from Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and Ramallah for two days at the EJYMCA’s campsite in Beit Sahour.

🤝 Camp Hope provides a safe and welcoming space for participants to express themselves, reflect on their experiences, discover their strengths, and build meaningful connections with others.

Today participants took part in a variety of sessions and interactive activities led by the Rehabilitation Program, focusing on getting to know each other, team building, communication, and teamwork.

🗣️ Hala Rishmawi, 17 years old, shared: “Sometimes, all you need is the right people to remind you that you’re not alone.”

A New Space Enhancing Members’ Experience at the Ramallah Community Center

As part of the partnership between the East Jerusalem YMCA and Coffee Lab, Coffee Lab opened its seventh branch inside the Ramallah Community Center on Saturday, 01/08/2026, marking a valuable addition that enhances the experience of the center’s members and visitors.

The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Laila Ghannam, member of Fatah Central Committee and Governor of Ramallah and Al-Bireh, Mrs. Rania Abu Hashish, Director of Ramallah Community Center, representatives of the Coffee Lab Company, and community and social media influencers. The gathering provided an opportunity to celebrate this new addition, which reflects a shared commitment between both entities to creating welcoming spaces that foster connection, enrich experiences, and contribute positively to the community.

This partnership reflects the organization’s belief in the importance of building effective collaborations that contribute to developing its services and expanding the experiences available to its members. It aligns with its vision of supporting individuals holistically — mind, body, and spirit — by creating an integrated environment that brings together activity, comfort, and connection, while supporting a balanced lifestyle within the center.

قيادة شابة تصنع التغيير

تفخر جمعية الشبان المسيحية – القدس بتخرّج ماتيلدا ريشماوي، منسقة دائرة الشباب في الجمعية، من الفوج السادس لبرنامج صُنّاع التغيير (Change Agents) التابع للاتحاد العالمي لجمعيات الشبان المسيحية (World YMCA)، وذلك خلال المجلس العالمي الحادي والعشرين المنعقد في تورونتو، كندا.

ويُعد برنامج Change Agents من أبرز البرامج القيادية في الحركة العالمية، حيث يهدف إلى إعداد قيادات شابة قادرة على إحداث تغيير إيجابي في مجتمعاتها وتعزيز أثرها محليًا وعالميًا.

وفي إنجاز يعكس تميزها وريادتها، اختيرت ماتيلدا لإلقاء كلمة الخريجين نيابةً عن الفوج السادس، في تأكيد على حضورها القيادي، وعلى الدور الفاعل الذي تواصل جمعية الشبان المسيحية – القدس القيام به في إعداد وتمكين القيادات الشابة.

نفخر بهذا الإنجاز، ونتطلع إلى رؤية الأثر الذي ستواصل ماتيلدا إحداثه في خدمة الشباب والمجتمع.

Young Leadership Creating Lasting Change

The East Jerusalem YMCA proudly celebrates the graduation of Matilda Rishmawi, Youth Coordinator at the East Jerusalem YMCA, from the 6th Cohort of the World YMCA Change Agents Programme, during the 21st YMCA World Council in Toronto, Canada.

The Change Agents Programme is one of the World YMCA’s flagship leadership initiatives, equipping young leaders with the skills, knowledge, and global network needed to create meaningful change in their communities.

In recognition of her leadership and dedication, Matilda was selected to deliver the Graduates’ Address on behalf of the sixth cohort, reflecting both her outstanding contribution and the East Jerusalem YMCA’s continued commitment to developing young leaders who make a difference locally and globally.

We are proud of this achievement and look forward to seeing Matilda continue inspiring positive change in our communities.

حضور فاعل في مجلس الاتحاد العالمي الحادي والعشرين لجمعيات الشبان المسيحية

يواصل وفد جمعية الشبان المسيحية – القدس مشاركته الفاعلة في أعمال مجلس الاتحاد العالمي الحادي والعشرين لجمعيات الشبان المسيحية في مدينة تورونتو، كندا، من خلال حضوره ومساهمته في عدد من الجلسات العامة وورش العمل التي تناولت مستقبل الحركة العالمية، وبناء السلام، ورفاه المجتمع، وتعزيز دور المؤسسات في الاستجابة لاحتياجات المجتمعات.

وشملت أبرز المشاركات افتتاح جلسات “Solutions Studios”، و“ركيزة رفاه المجتمع: المكانة العالمية الفريدة لجمعيات الشبان المسيحية”، و“البقاء إلى جانب المجتمع: كيف تحافظ جمعيات الشبان المسيحية على الرفاه في سياقات العنف وعدم الاستقرار والتجزئة”، و“ماذا يحتاج الشباب لبناء السلام، من الفهم إلى العمل الجماعي عبر القطاعات”، إلى جانب جلسة “المنظمات التي لم نعد بحاجة إليها” وكيفية مواكبة التغيرات العالمية كحركة عالمية.

Active Participation at the 21st YMCA World Council

The East Jerusalem YMCA delegation continues its active participation in the 21st YMCA World Council in Toronto, Canada, through its engagement in a series of plenary sessions and workshops focused on the future of the YMCA Movement, peacebuilding, community wellbeing, and strengthening the role of organizations in responding to the evolving needs of their communities.

Highlights included the opening of “Solutions Studios,” “The Community Wellbeing Pillar: YMCAs’ Unique Global Position”, “Staying with the Community: How YMCAs Sustain Wellbeing in Contexts of Violence, Instability and Fragmentation”, “What Do Young People Need to Build Peace, From Insight to Collective Action Across Sectors,” and “The Organizations We Don’t Need Anymore” and how to stay relevant to the global shifts as a movements.

This participation embodies the Association’s commitment to contributing to global dialogue, exchanging expertise, building partnerships, and conveying the voice and experience of our community to the global YMCA movement.

إنجاز عالمي جديد لجمعية الشبان المسيحية – القدس
تفخر جمعية الشبان المسيحية – القدس بالإعلان عن انتخاب الآنسة مورين كوبا، عضو مجلس الإدارة، عضواً في اللجنة التنفيذية للتحالف العالمي لجمعيات الشبان المسيحية، وذلك خلال مجلس الاتحاد العالمي الحادي والعشرين في تورونتو، كندا.

يمثل هذا الانتخاب محطة مهمة في مسيرة الجمعية، ويعكس حضورها المتنامي ودورها الفاعل في الحركة العالمية، إلى جانب الثقة بقياداتها للمساهمة في رسم مستقبلها.

A New Global Milestone for the East Jerusalem YMCA

The East Jerusalem YMCA proudly announces the election of Ms. Maurine Kouba, Board Member, to the World YMCA Executive Committee during the 21st World Council in Toronto, Canada.

This milestone reflects the organization’s growing leadership and active role within the global YMCA Movement, as well as the trust placed in its leadership.

This achievement is especially significant as it marks the fifth consecutive term of representation since 2010, highlighting the YMCA’s continued contribution to global leadership.

It stands as a source of pride and reaffirms the East Jerusalem YMCA’s commitment to strengthening the movement and empowering young people and communities worldwide.
