Helping Hand Coalition, an organization that works to aid survivors of the Holocaust across Israel through multiple projects and events was established in 2007. Two years later, HHC collaborated with an organization that formed a community where the survivors could fellowship together. Inspired by this idea, HHC expanded on this project and the Shalom House Project began.
In October 2018, the Shalom House Project moved to HHC’s new facility, the Helping Hand Coalition Caesarea Villa, where more than twenty survivors, from across Israel, attend weekly Shalom House events. During these events, survivors can enjoy a concert, lunch, and time of fellowship. For two hours, friendships are formed, hearts overflow with love, and unforgettable memories are made
Present at these events, director of the Shalom House Project, Bozena Gasiorowski says, “I think that the Shalom House is the heart of HHC’s work, because we are getting to know survivors on a personal level and giving those visiting Israel a chance to meet the people who are found on the pages of history.”
The Shalom House Project continues to grow as more groups come to host events of their own (click here to learn more about hosting an event) Through telling our story and sharing about the Shalom House events, Helping Hand Coalition hopes that groups will come to the villa, host an event, and experience the survivors’ reactions to different acts of service, performances, and kindness, for themselves.
