BARD has approved $13.2 million in funding for its 2026 research and fellowship programs the highest funding level awarded by the Fund in the past 20 years.
The 2026 portfolio will support 26 collaborative U.S.-Israel research projects, fellowships, and scientific workshops addressing some of agriculture’s most pressing challenges, from precision agriculture and crop resilience to animal health, aquaculture, food quality, and sustainable resource management.
This year, BARD received 144 research proposals, nearly double the number submitted in the previous year, reflecting growing interest in binational agricultural innovation. All funded projects were selected through BARD’s Pioneer Track, which emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and a clear pathway toward practical implementation.
By bringing together leading scientists from the United States and Israel, these investments strengthen scientific partnerships and help advance solutions that support farmers, improve sustainability, and contribute to global food security.
