This non-profit organisation strives to lead a kinder and more compassionate world for animals, human beings, and our planet. You are all welcome to take part in this process of making big dreams become reality for the first Israeli farm animal sanctuary and education center: Voice your opinion, raise suggestions, show your support via 'like' and 'share' on FB and experience with us the realizati

on of this dream. The Freedom Sanctuary serves as a shelter for rescued animals from the meat and dairy industry, and provides an opportunity for a comfortable, free, compassionate and respected life. The farm is "heaven on earth" and provides an opportunity for individuals, groups, and families to be acquainted with the animals from the industrial farms as creatures with character, emotions and social structure. The farm grants the opportunity to approach and spend time with the animals, listen to lectures, participate in workshops, and witness the mighty and grating differences between these animals and their ill-fated brothers. By doing so this will hopefully unlock years of the heart caging approach towards our life companions on this planet, and also deepen our understanding of the long term ecological damage that is in our power to avoid, as well as the tremendous bonus to our own well being, and to the distant contribution to the effort against the famine mortality in developing countries. FREEDOM is the first calf rescued from the meat and dairy industry in Israel. FREEDOM was born as a cripple in the dairy barn- and therefore his fate was instant slaughter. Omri Zvi, who knew the farmer, begged for his life and the opportunity to rehabilitate him. After a short rehabilitation period FREEDOM managed to stand on his feet and enjoy his first experience of living freely. The Freedom Farm Sanctuary's name was inspired by FREEDOM's rescue story. This farm is a non-profit organization. Like our page, follow our progress, come visit our farm and meet our beautiful animals!

Yesterday we said goodbye to Shakil, our beloved and beautiful rooster 💔

Shakil was a magnificent, intelligent and gentle rooster whom we rescued from the meat industry, and very quickly he became a deeply loved resident of the sanctuary. He loved being petted and receiving attention, and he always stood out with his unique presence.

He did not get along with the other roosters, so he moved to a separate space together with Noodles, another rooster. There, two roosters who had not found their place within the larger group found each other and became best friends. They did everything together and even slept cuddled up every night.

Last week we lost Noodles, and we saw how deeply this loss affected Shakil. He slowly withdrew into himself, became less active, asked for less attention, and his health declined rapidly. In the last few days he stopped eating and became very weak. Yesterday we saw that his condition had become critical. We placed him in an oxygen chamber and tried to treat him in every way we could, but we were unable to help him. When we understood that he was in significant pain and no longer able to stand, we made the heartbreaking decision to euthanize Shakil so he would not continue to suffer. Shakil left this world while being held, gently stroked, and surrounded by love 💔

Shakil and Noodles left us just one week apart. This is not the first time we have witnessed something like this. A few years ago we experienced a similar story with Robi and Michael, two roosters who lived together in their own area and passed away within days of each other.

Then, and still today, these incredible roosters continue to teach us how sensitive, intelligent, and social they are. And sometimes, just like humans, they can experience a sudden health decline that may be connected to loss and heartbreak.

We will always remember Shakil and Noodles, continue to share their story, and do everything we can to save their friends from the meat industry who are still waiting for someone to see them and give them the life they deserve ❤️

Throwback to the moment Udi went out to the pasture 💚
He took off running like there was no tomorrow, full of energy and joy, and even led his friends along with him ♥️
It never gets old watching them out there. That feeling of open space, freedom, and calm is something we never take for granted 💚
