Tonight it's the turn of our Cubs to update you all on our busy Summer, From Golly fishing (Golly is the local name given to the small green crabs in the Letrim river / harbour areas in Wicklow Town), Camping in Larch Hill, circus visit and a party on Brittas Bay.

At 4th Port of Wicklow Sea Scouts we had a very busy few months.
We will be posting updates of some of the activities from each section over the next day or two so please watch out for them.
We will start here with some pictures from our Beavers. It includes a visit to the Birdwatch Ireland, East Coast Nature Reserve near Newcastle in County Wicklow, An evening learning about water safety and what to do if we see someone in trouble in the water, A trip to the circus and of course our summer camp in Larch Hill.

So here it is folks, the moment you have all been waiting for. It's time to share our 4th Port of Wicklow Sea Scouts / Kaleidoscope Family Festival Virtual Duck Race.
First all 38 names of the people who bought a duck were randomly assigned a number using the website random.org (the full list of names and numbers is in the 1st comment below) then each number was assigned to a duck on our virtual river and then off they went for a 1 minute long sprint.
Enjoy the race and we will be in contact with the winner shortly to arrange transfer of the Weekend family camping ticket.
A MASSIVE thank you to everyone who contributed to this fundraiser for our group.

Our Beavers had a very exciting sleepover on Friday. First we visited the crew at Wicklow Fire Station where the Beavers got to chat with the Firemen and see the gear used by the crews, they were delighted to be able to climb up into the engine cab to get a feel if what traveling in the fire truck is like BUT there is no disputing the fact that getting to use the fire hose was the most exciting part of the visit🤣🤣.
After this we walked back to our den where we were all extremely well fed but Francesco's Diner who provided meals for everyone. Once fed we all settled down to watch a movie before taking on the challenge of sleeping🤣🤣😱😱😴😴. (I think the kids managed about 5 hours and the scouters about 3 - we won't name the snorers🤣😱😴).

We are a bit late with this one but a MASSIVE well done to our Venture Kelvin Walsh who from the 3rd to the 10th of April completed the PEAK Challenge, PEAK is a week-long training adventure in Gartan Outdoor Education Centre in Donegal.
I think you will all agree that the future of our group is looking strong with members like Kelvin coming through.
