📱 Why Every Parent Needs to Understand Coco’s Law

In today’s digital world, our children are growing up online — but do they (and we!) understand the laws that protect them?

Coco’s Law (The Harassment, Harmful Communications and Related Offences Act) makes it a serious crime to share or threaten to share intimate images without consent, and to send harmful or abusive messages online.

🚨 And this isn’t just theory — it’s happening right now:

Over 240 prosecutions have taken place since the law was introduced in 2021
75 cases were brought in 2025 alone, a rise of over 40%
Cases include individuals prosecuted for sharing or threatening to share images of minors and peers on platforms like Snapchat

This shows one thing clearly: young people are at real risk, and parents need to be informed.

đź’ˇ The challenge?
Many families don’t know:

What counts as illegal online behaviour
How quickly situations can escalate
How to set clear, safe digital boundaries at home

A sensational finale to an incredible Leinster campaign for Wexford champions St Martins!

It's a first Leinster for a Wexford side since Oulart-the-Ballagh in 2015, and St Martins did it the hard way, knocking out the reigning All Ireland champions in the quarter finals and the twelve time Leinster champions Ballyhale in the final in Croke Park.

The Kilkenny champs led going into injury time but two late points from Rory O'Connor and match winner Ben Stafford ensured it's St Martins who claim their first ever title at this level in the most dramatic of circumstances.

Technology Gift Ideas for Young Coders
Laptops & Chromebooks – Consider a Refurbished Laptop
Having access to a personal device can be a huge advantage for children interested in coding. Laptops are excellent choices for young coders. They are versatile, portable, and compatible with popular coding platforms such as Scratch. If you’re considering a purchase, look for devices with at least 4GB of RAM and reliable internet connectivity to ensure smooth operation of coding applications.

Free Parent Talk - Setting Family Digital Rules! 24th and 25th of October. Book Early!

https://kidscoderclub.ie/events/

Setting family digital rules is important because it helps children develop healthy, balanced relationships with technology. Clear boundaries teach them how to use devices responsibly, protect their privacy, and stay safe from online risks like cyberbullying or inappropriate content. Digital rules also encourage face-to-face communication, family time, and good sleep habits by limiting screen use. When parents model and enforce these rules consistently, children learn self-control, respect for others’ boundaries, and digital citizenship. Ultimately, family digital rules foster a safer, more mindful online environment that supports children’s emotional well-being, learning, and healthy development in a technology-driven world.
