Jack is recovering well after surgery to amputate his leg after it became clear that the nerve damage caused by his accident was irreparable.
Thanks to the highly-skilled surgical team at GoreyBray Vet, Jack can look forward to living his best life.
Special thanks also due to everyone who contributed so generously to his vet costs.

Many, many thanks to our wonderful followers who responded so generously to our Momo appeal. Our little warrior had his surgery today and all went well. In addition to having his chin and mouth repaired, he lost part of his tail which had been broken.
He is full of beans tonight and making friends wherever he goes. Special thanks are due to our friends in GoreyBray Vets, they did a fantastic job on him

๐Ÿšจ STOP GIVING KITTENS AWAY FOR FREE. ๐Ÿšจ

This may be uncomfortable to read, but it needs to be said.

When you advertise kittens as โ€œFree to a Good Homeโ€, you have absolutely no idea who is on the other side of that message.

Not every person looking for a free kitten wants a family pet.

Some free kittens are:
๐Ÿ’” Used as bait animals for fighting dogs.
๐Ÿ’” Acquired by people who cannot afford even basic food or veterinary care.
๐Ÿ’” Dumped when they become too much work.
๐Ÿ’” Passed from house to house like unwanted possessions.
๐Ÿ’” Left to breed, creating even more unwanted kittens.
๐Ÿ’” Abandoned, neglected, injured or left to die.

The reality is that once a kitten leaves your hands, you may never know what happened to them.

A cute photo and a promise of a โ€œloving homeโ€ mean nothing without proper checks.

Every year rescue organisations pick up the pieces โ€” starving cats, injured cats, abandoned cats and kittens born because someone handed out an unneutered kitten with no questions asked.

If you genuinely care about the kittens you have brought into this world, then do the responsible thing:
โœ”๏ธ Vet potential adopters.
โœ”๏ธ Ask questions.
โœ”๏ธ Carry out home checks where possible.
โœ”๏ธ Charge an adoption fee.
โœ”๏ธ Ensure kittens are old enough, healthy and properly cared for before rehoming.

Because the harsh truth is this:

Giving a kitten away is easy. Making sure they are safe for the next 15-20 years is the hard part.

A kittenโ€™s life is worth far more than โ€œfree to a good home.โ€

๐Ÿพ Please think beyond getting rid of them. Think about where they are going. ๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’”

This is one beautiful boy! Everyone here is smitten with him!

This is Momo, who is about.two months old. He was found yesterday in the Ballagh with dreadful facial injuries (known as a 'degloving' injury) consistent with having been thrown from a car.
He is going for surgery in the morning and we're hoping our vets will be able to repair the damage to his mouth and chin. He has also damaged his tail but we won't know until tomorrow if it is broken and what will need to be done.
Surgery costs for this little boy could make a serious dent in the resources we have to get ourselves through kitten season. Any donation towards the cost of Momo orJack's surgery would be an amazing help. Donations can be made through our Paypal account ([email protected]) or our website https://tenlivesireland.org/donations/friend/

You may remember Jack, the road traffic accident victim found in New Ross back in mid-April. He's still with us and, although no bones were broken, the nerve damage to his leg has never healed. At this stage it's unlikely to improve and in fact is simply impeding his movement. So Jack is going for surgery tomorrow morning to remove the 'dead leg'.
We also have a two-month old kitten found yesterday in the Ballagh. We can't for certain how he sustained his awful facial injuries but they are consistent with having been thrown from a car.
We don't often ask for help, but vet bills to get both of these boys mended are going to be very substantial. We'd appreciate any donation you can make towards the cost.
