More Great Progress! ๐Ÿšœ๐ŸŒฑ

A massive thank you to everyone who has helped out on the project to date!

We had a brilliant team on-site this weekend getting stuck into the groundwork. A special shoutout goes to the drivers who brought along their machines and did fantastic work: Davy, Hughie, Liam, Paul, Daniel, and MJ, with MJ on photo duty capturing the progress. Your hard work and support are massively appreciated by the whole community. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Once complete, this vital project will deliver a safe pathway around a notoriously dangerous bend, alongside additional car parking spaces right beside the graveyard. It is going to make a massive difference to safety and accessibility for everyone visiting the area.

There is still plenty more to do, but we are well on our way!

๐Ÿ“ข REMINDER: Event Postponed

In light of the recent fuel protests, the decision has been made to postpone the upcoming Tractor & Vintage Car Run originally scheduled for May 2nd.

Given the current climate, it was felt that proceeding with the event would not be appropriate or supportive of the wider community at this time.

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ NEW PROVISIONAL DATE: Sunday, November 1st, 2026

The event remains dedicated to supporting St Kevinโ€™s Community, Tara Hill, and we look forward to seeing you all for an Autumn Run later this year instead.

Thank you for your understanding and for your continued support of the community.

โœจ Happy Bealtaine to our Tara Hill Community! โœจ

Today marks the first of May, the ancient festival of Bealtaine. As we welcome the return of summer, the Tara Hill Community Development Association would love to see our community come together to celebrate our heritage by reviving the beautiful tradition of the May Bush.

While we are not hosting a formal event this year, we want to encourage every household to take part and bring some festive colour to the Hill.

๐ŸŒฟ What is a May Bush?

Traditionally, a May Bush is a small tree or branch (usually Hawthorn) decorated to welcome the new season. It was historically believed to bring good luck and protection to the home for the year ahead.

๐ŸŽจ How to Get Involved

It is a simple and sustainable activity that the whole family can enjoy safely.

โ€ข Find your branch: Look for a small fallen branch or use a bush already growing in your garden. We ask everyone to please be kind to nature and avoid cutting from live public hedgerows.
โ€ข Decorate with colour: Use ribbons, scraps of colourful fabric, or even painted eggshells to brighten it up.
โ€ข Add a safe sparkle: If you want your bush to stand out at night, solar-powered fairy lights are a brilliant and safe way to make it glow.
โ€ข Display it proudly: Place your creation in your garden, on your gatepost, or in a window for your neighbours to enjoy as they pass by.

๐Ÿ“ธ Share Your Creations

Let us fill Tara Hill with vibrant colour today! Once your May Bush is ready, we would love to see a photo of it.

Please share your pictures in the comments below. Whether you have gone for a traditional look or a modern creative style, let us keep this special piece of Irish heritage alive.

Happy Bealtaine to all our neighbours! ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒผ

โœจ Bringing Back the May Bush Tradition โœจ

As the flowers begin to bloom and the days stretch longer, it is time to welcome the ancient festival of Bealtaine!

This year, the Tara Hill Community Development Association wants to encourage everyone in our beautiful community to revive one of our most beloved Irish customs: The May Bush.

While we are not hosting a formal event, we would love to see the area transformed by this colourful tradition.

๐ŸŒฟ What is a May Bush?

Traditionally, a May Bush is a small tree or branch (usually Hawthorn) decorated to welcome the summer and bring good luck to the household. It was historically believed to protect the home and ensure a bountiful season ahead.

๐ŸŽจ How to Participate

It is simple, sustainable, and a wonderful activity for all ages.

Choose your branch: Find a small fallen branch or a bush in your garden. Please remember to be kind to nature and avoid cutting from live public hedgerows.

Decorate with colour: Use ribbons, scraps of colourful fabric, or even painted eggshells.

Add a modern glow: Battery-powered or solar lights are a wonderful way to make your bush sparkle safely at night.

Display it proudly: Place it in your garden, on your gatepost, or in a window for neighbours to see.

๐Ÿ“ธ Share the Magic

Let us fill Tara Hill with colour! Once you have decorated your May Bush, we would love to see it.

Post a photo in the comments below. If we get a good response, we will add the images to our Heritage Page on our website https://www.tarahill.org/heritage . Whether yours is a traditional Hawthorn branch or a modern creative take, let us keep this piece of our heritage alive together.

Happy Bealtaine to all our neighbours! ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒผ

Today was a wonderful day at the Kilcavan Garden! Our volunteers were out in force giving the space some much-needed TLC, but the real stars of the show were the 3rd Wexford Scouts Gorey (Beavers). ๐ŸŒณ

The Beavers very kindly donated and planted some beautiful native trees, including a mighty Oak, as part of our ongoing garden project. A massive thank you to these young scouts for their generosity, enthusiasm, and commitment to their wider community. The future of Tara Hill is looking green! ๐Ÿ’š

Making Tara Hill Safer! ๐Ÿšœ๐Ÿšง

Progress is finally underway! Our volunteers from the Tara Hill Community Development Association were out on traffic duty today, overseeing the long-overdue works on the dangerous bend at Kilcavan Graveyard.

This project has been on the radar for a long time. It is fantastic to see the heavy machinery in action, making this stretch of road safer for residents, walkers, drivers and cyclists alike.

A huge thank you to our dedicated volunteers for giving up their time to manage traffic and keep everything running smoothly while the work was being carried out.

We also want to sincerely acknowledge and thank the machinery provider for their invaluable support in making this happen.

Please note: The next phase will conclude as soon as the weather improves. Looking ahead, we are also progressing with funding applications for a new footpath to further improve safety in the area.
