The Westport Music Festival first started back in August 2006 and is a free open-air music festival in the town of Westport to help promote the town as a tourist destination and also to provide high quality entertainment for the local community, young and old. The Festival had enjoyed a renaissance in recent years after a long absence, but was ceased in 2012, with financial constraints among the c
hief reasons. A meeting was held recently to discuss bringing back the festival and the organising group are encouraging feedback from the general public on the event, the type of music it should have, being mindful that it is a free festival and constrained by financial and other restrictions and also needs to appeal to wider musical tastes with a varied line-up. Discussions for 2015's festival are at a very early stage and feedback from the public prior to any plans being agreed will be essential.
