The second of our speakers at next week’s Wellness Event (Thursday 25th of June, from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm, at the Westlodge Hotel, Bantry) is Michele Hallahan, MSc, ALCM, LEED AP.
Michele has worked in the fields of ecological design, environmental management, and sustainability for over 20 years, gaining part of her foundation working at Greenpeace International on oil pollution. Specialising in restorative environmental management and international environmental standards in the US and in Europe, she now consults with SMEs – large businesses on all matters related to environmental sustainability and health impacts.
She served as Vice President of JTED, the design-build firm of internationally renowned ecological designer Dr John Todd, and is a certified Permaculture Designer.
She was formerly the Sustainability Advisor to the Office of the Provost at Trinity College, Dublin, and now teaches with UCC and the Institute of Sustainability Studies on sustainable business topics. Among many of her initiatives at Trinity, she co- launched Ireland’s first deposit-return coffee cup scheme and created an award-winning Resident Sustainability Champions programme for Trinity.
She co-wrote the book ‘Source – A Social, Environmental and Holistic Directory’ (2000) and created Ireland’s first Green Map™ of the Temple Bar area. She is a public speaker on topics such as climate action, environmental toxins, and healthy lifestyles.
In her spare time, she enjoys storytelling, yoga, and gardening (though not all at the same time!).
