Spraoi celebrates colour, creativity and community. It's a festival that transforms Waterford into a living artwork where cultures mix, kids have faces full of joy. It’s a vision of an open and joyful Ireland.
Then you’ve got this lot, a rigid, joyless fringe cult wheeling out statues, flags and fear, not to inspire but to control. Not to welcome but to warn. This isn’t really about faith, as always it’s about power, power dressed up as piety. And it always ends the same way: with women silenced, immigrants scapegoated, and the clock turned back.
They’re not here to pray. They’re here to claim space and mark territory. And to hijack public life like parasites feeding off the very freedom they despise.
Spraoi shows us what’s possible when a society is alive. These lads remind us what it looks like when one is in the mire, and trying to drag the rest of us down with it. Are we going to call it out or not?
