Wh***ey Delta ran The Manor Ai***ft site, where we loved doing milsims. Often, 6 months of prep went into them. From Friday afternoon till Sunday evening, we immersed players in a story-driven game, with effects like the sounds of Hueys flying overhead and distant artillery, doing a recon of the village with sounds of animals and villagers, and the distant sound of aircraft flying by. There was excitement and fear as you waited in the dark to ambush the enemy, or it could be you that would be ambushed.
If hit, your medic would arrive to tell you what random wound you had, which meant you could stay in the fight or RTB and wait to be sent somewhere else; there was no continuous respawn. This site was like a jungle, lots of low ground cover, trees over 100 years old, ivy streaming from them. Often, we would do a promo vid a few months before, with our own guys and basic equipment and software, and often shoot some vid on a game day so players could get involved. This was 12 years ago...
