🚨 250 Callouts and Counting! 🚨
Last night, Virginia First Responders attended what might have seemed like just another callout—but for our team, it marked a significant milestone: our 250th callout since the group was established.
Over the course of those 250 incidents, our volunteers have been able to attend and provide support at nearly half of them. Every call represents someone in our community experiencing one of the most challenging moments of their lives, and we are incredibly proud to be there whenever we can.
The chart below shows a breakdown of the types of incidents we've been called to over those 250 callouts. As you can see, the majority have involved chest pain (63%), followed by stroke-related emergencies (16%), heart problems (9%), and cardiac arrests (7%). Other callouts have included collapses/fainting, choking incidents, and seizures.
These figures highlight just how important a rapid community response can be. In many of these situations, the first few minutes can make a real difference, whether that's providing reassurance, assisting emergency services, delivering life-saving equipment, or beginning emergency care before an ambulance arrives.
As a completely voluntary group, we are continually humbled by the trust placed in us by our community and emergency service partners. Reaching 250 callouts is not just a number—it's 250 opportunities to help our neighbours, support families in distress, and work alongside the dedicated professionals of the emergency services.
We would like to thank every one of our volunteers for their commitment, the emergency services for their continued partnership, and the community for their ongoing support and encouragement.
