Concept development of "Angel of Hope Memorial Garden' for Coleraine
Garden designed as a dignified space to remember and reflect on lost lives. Double circle represents the single cell splitting and becoming two at the formation of life itself. A glass 'fountain of life' has references to the baptism and celebration of a new life arriving. The individual brass stars fixed on the wall are inscribed with each missed child. The rear of the curved wall is sheeted with brushed stainless steel as the "Wall of reflection' - Perhaps people can leave personal notes and poems on this wall. The angel sculptures are designed to rotate in the wind making the garden kinetic and introducing the sense of wonder children so unselfishly share.

Hi All I received messages and phone calls about the vigil organised to remember Henry Nowak . I’m sure anyone like myself who has watched the video is heartbroken and outraged and how this poor young man died and the aftermath for his family . I myself as a parent and like you all know the immense pain of loosing a child but I can’t personally comprehend how Henry’s family are coping with the circumstances of his passing.
I’ve had phone calls and messages from members of the public who didn’t think the vigil was not appropriate to be held in garden due to it being organised by Our Northern Ireland Voice , I also had others wanting to counter protest against My Northern Ireland Voice the whole situation has put me in a very difficult and stressful position. I did not know of the vigil being organised or held at the garden until I was contacted by people. I do personally feel a vigil should be held for Henry and his family to show support from our community for his family . I do however want to make clear that the Angel of Hope garden is a memorial garden for everyone regardless of colour or faith as no parent should ever have to bury their child . We will not allow the space to be used for any religious or political agendas or protests you wouldn’t do this at a cemetery.
I feel in this situation I was left with only one choice but to reach a compromise as either way I’d be damned .
I spoke to the organisers of the vigil who were very understanding and acknowledged the concerns of the people who had contacted me . They have assured me there will be no political speeches or statements and the vigil is open to the whole community to come if they wish and pay their respects. They have removed their logo from the poster advertising said vigil and written below statement on their page . I really hope everyone can put aside their differences and simply remember a young man who lost his life in horrific circumstances and a family that will net be the same again
RIP Henry Nowak 💔🙏

Clearing the Air, folks... 🙏

Due to some confusion and speculation surrounding the upcoming vigil for Henry Nowak, we would like to make a few things absolutely clear.

First and foremost, this is a public vigil of remembrance. It is not political in any way, shape, or form. The sole purpose of this gathering is to remember and honour Henry following the absolutely horrific and heartbreaking loss of a young life.

Henry was only 18 years old, barely old enough to legally have a pint. His loss has left a profound impact on many people across our community, and this vigil is simply an opportunity for members of the wider public to come together, reflect, and celebrate his memory.

We would also like to clarify that this event is not organised by the Angel of Hope Garden Committee. While the vigil is being held at the Angel of Hope Garden, which we believe is a fitting and peaceful place to remember Henry, the committee itself has no involvement in organising the event.

Likewise, this vigil is not a political event and should not be viewed as one. It is not intended to promote any political viewpoint, organisation, or agenda. This is about one thing only: remembering Henry and showing support for those affected by his loss.

Everyone from the wider community is welcome to attend respectfully as we come together to honour Henry's life and memory.

🕊️ Henry Nowak Forever Remembered 🕊️

To Everyone who owns a bench or picnic table in garden .
We have been able to source these new benches &picnic tables please see images below. These require zero maintenance which is the way forward. Moving forward if you wish to replace your broken benches or tables these are what we will be using .
For anyone who hasn’t removed their damaged bench or picnic table I now have no choice but to have them removed this week as a member of the public has contacted me after they sat on one and the leg broke !!
I can’t afford any accidents to happen in the garden I hope you understand

Hi as you can see the benches and picnic tables are beyond repair . They are now a hazard in the garden as some are literally falling apart . I have removed my mother’s bench now and unfortunately the other benches and picnic tables will have to be removed .
If you own a bench or picnic table can you please 🙏 contact me asap .
I have men coming to power hose and clean garden so we’ll need benches lifted asap x
I feel we have to rethink materials moving forward if you wish to replace your bench or picnic table .
All memorials placed in the garden are the responsibility of the owners to maintain and keep in good order as I can’t be responsible for this as I get no help .
Thanks Andrea

Heartbreaking 💔 Scalper was one of the kindest people I have ever met. He was a great support to the Angel of hope garden . Planting out our baby memorial. Finding plants for the garden nothing was ever too much and always done without posts or praise . He would phone or call with plans and ideas to make the garden better any problem he was the first to help . My thoughts and prayers are with Sarah , little Ruby May & his entire family circle. GBNF 💔🙏
